chapter three: loophole

Gojo's P.O.V.

I walk towards my office whistling a tune, wondering just what young Itadori and Fushiguro wanted to talk to me about just mere hours after arriving. I'm more than certain that Fushiguro's already sick of me telling by his less than ecstatic behavior from seeing me earlier in the day. But perhaps this is their way of telling me that they're ready to move up in the world and handle even more difficult cases... they grow up so fast.

However, when I open the door to my room I'm quite surprised to see Nanami there by himself. I look down at my watch and notice that I'm late- how strange that the two boys aren't here. I suppose they got delayed with their unpacking. Besides, I'm more than happy to entertain my friend for a little while.

Nanami clears his throat, calling me to look up from my watch to gaze at him. As I do, I notice a seriously ticked-off expression- one even more pissed-looking than usual. But I still put on my greatest smile, hoping to diffuse whatever nonsense he's about to drag me for.

"What a surprise to see you here, Nanamin," I grin.

"Shut the door and sit down," he says abruptly, crossing both his arms and legs in the process.

"You must be busy, already getting straight to the point," I hum while completing the task he's asked of me. "Perhaps you should buy me food first if you insist on rushing along this fast."

Nanami doesn't laugh but instead deepens the frown on his face. I then sit beside him and sigh, giving in to whatever it is he's so adamant on talking about.

"So what's going on?"

"What's going on?" he asks as he uncrosses his legs and sits up perfectly straight. "When the hell were you planning on telling me?!"

"Tell you?... About what?" I ask as my smile drops into a bit more serious look.

"You know about what!" he scoffs.

After saying that, I pause to genuinely contemplate what he could possibly be talking about. I place my hand on my chin and think, there could be a bunch of things he wants to know. How am I supposed to know what it is?

"Ohh, is this 'bout that trip to Okinawa?" I grin.

"No," he replies effortlessly.

"Did you find out about that weekend in Brazil?" I sigh with defeat.

"Brazil? No... What the hell were you doing in Brazil?"

"Nothing," I say as I wave my hand in dismissal of the topic. "Don't worry 'bout that."

Nanami pinches the sides of his nose in frustration. "Student-teacher relationships are quite obviously forbidden here," he sighs.

"Okay, so?" I shrug before gasping as I finally begin to realize what he's trying to talk about. I lean in close to him and try to get him to look me in the eyes. "Nanamin... Did you sleep with a student?"

"No, you idiot!" he shouts angrily before once more correcting himself. "You! I'm talking about you!"

"Me?" I hum as I lean back in my chair once more. "I didn't sleep with a student. Who do you think I slept with?"

Nanami leans his head back towards the ceiling and sighs. "Mai told me that you hooked up with Y/N over the summer break," he admits.

Just then, there's a strange banging noise from the hallway. Thinking that it's probably Itadori and Fushiguro here for our appointment, I get up and look. However, there's nobody in the hallway at all. With a shrug, I hum and walk back to my seat.

"Mai said that, did she?" I ask aloud, thinking that Mai does tend to say some interesting things to bend people to her will. Besides, I quite obviously know that I did not hook up with any student over the break. "And where did she hear that from?"

"Mai told me she heard it straight from Y/N herself. Overheard her talking with Nobara about it. Gojo, you better not do that shit again! I understand that she's of legal age but at least wait until she's no longer your student to make your relationship with her more... personal if that's what you wish."

"Yeah, yeah, don't worry about it Nanamin. I'll only do it once no second times, you don't need to keep yourself awake worrying," I tell him as I begin to shuffle him towards the door.

Nanami stops just at the entrance and turns around to look at me skeptically. However, it's not like I'm lying to him. It'll only be a one-time thing. Besides, as a teacher, it is my job to correct my students' wrongdoings- in this case, a lie.

When he leaves, I close the door behind him and quietly walk across the room. I stand by my window and look out towards the field where I can see Nobara and Y/N crossing, heading towards the lunchroom.

This is quite interesting indeed, I think to myself. Y/N isn't typically the kind of person to lie about something this severe but if she really did tell Miss Zen'in these things, it could prove to be a good learning experience for her. After all, I am the best teacher around and it's my job to raise my students as well-respectable people.

I'll go have a talk with her a little later on to find out what's really going on. But first, I'm off to Brazil for a few coxinhas before anything else.
