chapter five: legality

Fushiguro's P.O.V.

Y/N and I walk quietly together to the other side of the lunchroom where we then stand and stare at each other. She looks at me nervously- not a good sign to prove her innocence in all of this. But what baffles me is the quick smile that appears on her face and the light conversation that ensues.

"So, Fushiguro, how was your vacation?" she asks.

"It was fine," I respond politely. "I got some well needed rest."

"That's good to hear," she hums back happily. However, I can't seem to keep up this conversation without feeling an overwhelming pressure that bubbles up until I call her name suddenly, causing her to straighten up her posture and widen her eyes just a bit.

"Yeah? Is everything alright, Fushiguro?"

I can feel my face begin to heat up as I look at her, but I clear my throat and push past it. "I think you should know that there is, well, sort of a rumor going around..."

"Oh?" she replies with a bit of a crack in her voice that she attempts to cover up with a cough right after.

"Have you heard about it? I'm not the one to really know all the details about this kind of drama but I thought you should know people are saying you and Gojo, um, spent time alone together..."

The blank stare on her face makes me worried, it does make me think that she's heard of this before. Either Nobara told her first or it's actually true...

Y/N looks down at her hands and back up at me worriedly. She parts her lips to speak and takes in a breath, but then stops herself. I'm completely shocked. She's got nothing to say in response- it really did happen! I never thought she'd do something like that, with Gojo no less! But I'm not mad at her honestly, only pissed that Gojo would actually take advantage of one of my friends like that.

Of course, just as I'm fuming Gojo approaches out of thin air as he bursts open the lunchroom doors. He slides his arms around both of our shoulders and I see Y/N completely tense up. At the awkwardness and the anger I'm feeling towards him, I shove him right off of me and ignore the look of concern he gives back.

"You alright, Fushiguro?" he asks before turning towards Y/N. "Mind if I steal him for a second?"

Y/N nods. "I'll see you guys later, I should get back to training with Nobara. See you!"

Gojo smiles and waves goodbye to her like the idiot he is- as if he knew nothing of this whole thing that he got himself into. How could he be so stupid?

He then turns on his heels and walks right out of the room, forcing me to wordlessly follow after him.

"How's your first day back going?" he asks casually. "I missed you and Itadori at our meeting and I just wanted to make sure everything was fine."

I don't really know what to say to him, I'm so pissed that it's making me crazy. When I don't respond he stops moving and turns around to face me still struggling to catch up.

"That bad, huh?" he grins

I shake my head and apologize. "No, sorry. I'm fine."

"Hm, alright. You think you're gonna get a girlfriend anytime soon?" he then asks out of the blue. "I saw you talking with Y/N. The two of you seem close."

My fists ball up into fists as he continues to speak with his stupidly huge mouth.

"It could have made your vacation a bit more enjoyable with a companion instead of spending all that time alone!"

I do my best to ignore his stupid rambling comments, knowing exactly what that asshole did to my friend. How could I even acknowledge these things after what I heard?

The two of us continue our walk out to the field where Itadori and Nobara are already sparring despite how they only just ate. I think it's a bit odd that Y/N isn't here considering she said she'd be training with Nobara, but perhaps something just came up.

Gojo and I sit down at a bench where he continues to press me on this idiotic conversation.

"So, is there anybody you've got feelings for?" he asks, just as nosy as ever.

"I'd rather not talk about this," I respond with a sigh.

"Alright, sorry," he chuckles. "I just thought there was someone you respected enough to think of in that way, but nevermind. Forget I even brought it up!"

How could I possibly do that?

"There is not. Now can we please drop this conversation?"

"Why're you all bothered today?" he sighs with a gentle shake of his head. "And don't lie to me, boy. I'm not that stupid."

I stand up and look down at him with my fists still balled up. Gojo looks a bit surprised at the sudden outburst but somewhat impressed at the same time.

"I'm going to train," I briefly explain before walking away.

Gojo waves goodbye to me. "Good luck!" he hums as he sits in the same spot, pondering whatever the hell he's thinking about me that I don't care about right now.

As I walk towards the others on the field I see Y/N heading in the same direction as me. I shake my head at her and walk right up to Itadori instead.

"Let's spar," I state simply.

"Sure," he shrugs. "What'd Gojo want?"

I look over and spot Y/N, Nobara, and Gojo talking and laughing about something foreign. I scoff as I look back at Itadori and shake my head. "He just wanted to stick his noses in places it doesn't belong, just like always."

Amongst other things, I think to myself.

"Alright, well do you still wanna spar?" he asks, changing the subject for me.

"Yeah," I nod.

As we get into our starting positions, Itadori's smile fades. "Hey, wait, what happened with your talk to Y/N?"

"She basically admitted to it without saying anything at all."

"Does that mean she actually did it?" he gasps.

"Of course it does," I nod. "If she didn't do it then she would have said so!"

"But she didn't say that she did, did she? Besides, I saw her rush out of the room towards the bathroom as you left. She looked upset. I wouldn't go jumping to conclusions..."

I'm done talking, I just want to spar. And so, I make it clear to Itadori as I step one foot closer to him. Finally, he gets the hint and moves on. I'm so over this stupid drama, but I can't help but wish that it'd all just go away... I wish she'd just say it didn't happen and end this whole thing... Or at least admit to it to end the questions! This is why I don't involve myself in stuff like this.
