A/N cliché high school love story I know, don't complain I know you love it ;)

Carina Deluca wasn't one of those popular girls only concerned about how glossy her lips were or where her handbag sat in the crook of her arm or how much footballer mcblue-eyes stared at her during gym class but she also wasn't one of the shy girls in the corner who didn't speak and sat alone at lunch eating crackers. The Italian could voice her opinions, she could defend herself when needed and fought an argument so well that no one even bothered anymore. Not only that but she was extraordinarily smart like not even normal smart as well as effortlessly beautiful, not that anyone noticed of course.

On the other hand Maya Bishop was popular but again not in a lipgloss handbag dreamy blue eyed boys way but in a winning gold medals, everyone thinks she's a dumb blonde who can run fast kinda way. Of course by default all the jock boys liked Maya because she was interested in sports and not makeup which made her popular but it's not like she and any interest in any of them if you know what I mean. She has a couple friends that are girls but she didn't really relate or emotionally connect with them or anyone for that fact, it was just easier to hang out with the boys so they could play sports and talk about nothing else.

One of the Italians favourite subjects the year has been chemistry, something about writing every detail about what she did after she had done it was oddly satisfying to the brunette though most found it strange her chemistry teacher enjoyed the detail that was Farley found in this level of work.

"Okay guys remember this project is worth 40% of your final grade so... don't fail!" the chemistry teacher, Ms Altman told the class, she gave the piece of paper in-front of her a strange look and then turned back to her computer checking something. "Since I am new hear your other teacher Mr.." She paused and looked at the piece of paper still partially confused. "..Burke has chosen your partners for this, but I think he's wrote your last names to confuse us all even more, he seems like.. a delight." The class chuckled and agreed with the new chemistry teachers sarcastic comment.

"Right so I'll shout out the names and you can just find a desk together and get started" the blonde explained whilst she walked around to stand in front of her desk and lean against it. "Sloan and Torres, Robbins and Kepner, Herrera and Tanner, Hughes and Ripley, Gibson and Warren,Montgomery and... Montgomery? siblings?" Ms Altman questioned confused to why the teacher would partner relatives together but even if he did, still wouldn't have the courage to question his teaching methods. "No, we get that a lot though" a red headed girl near the back spoke up as she collected her books to sit next to the boy Montgomery.

"Okay, so that leaves Yang and Grey, Karev and Stevens, Shepard and Bartley, and last but not least Deluca and Miller." Ms Altman smiled now that she finally got that sorted out, until she looked up and saw all the students staring at her looking very..awkward to say the least. "Problem?" she questioned the class as a whole.

"Uhhh..well the thing is Ms Altman.." someone started. "That guy Miller died!" Alex Karev shouted earning a slap from the blonde next to him and a glaring stare from others. "Oh I see, well I'm sorry for all your loss um Deluca whoever you may be I guess you can-"

The chemistry teacher was swiftly interrupted from a blonde rushing in the classroom, hair a mess books spilling over her arms but of course still breathtakingly beautiful which didn't go unnoticed by the brunette. "Hi, I'm so sorry for being late practice ran over Miss?" "Ms Altman" She extended her arm to greet her new student, it didn't bother her when students were a bit late as long as they showed up. "Maya Bishop" the blonde shook the woman's hand and smiled just glad she wasn't mad. "What's your sport?" the teacher wanted to be as welcoming as she could to all students. "Basketball" Maya replied being appreciative of how interested this teacher was. " I used to to play a bit in college, anyway chemistry so I was just exposing to the class that this big project is worth 40% of your grade you need a partner for it but Mr Burke assigned them, he didn't seem to put you down though."
