Hands on the steering wheel,
Sitting Paralyzed as the truck's headlights blinded my eyes.
To my surprise,
There was no fear in me—only relief,
As I drew in what was to be. My last breath.

What one would expect, was a collision so quick and fatal that it will feel like nothing.
But what followed my supposed last breath,
Was a blaring horn awakening my senses back to life,
Ordering my vehicle to pull over.

Still shocked I was still in this earthly realm,
I Obeyed the command, parked aside,
And begun sobbing with mixed emotions.
First for the guilt of surviving what was meant to my sudden death,
The second was gratitude for having another chance to see my parents after three whole years apart,
And the third for knowing I would live to write another poem.
