Quixoticelixer - Red Hot Chili Peppers

I was just getting ready to leave school when I got a call from Siya. Siya was an old, old friend. I don't really remember how we met, but I'm glad that we did. Back when I was a trancer Siya and I would trance together and when we didn't go trancing we attended his wicked awesome house parties. To him, age was just a number. I was a year younger than him, but he never hesitated to give me alcohol or weed.

That's what people loved about Siya, he was always giving away weed, but only to close friends. That's why everyone wanted to be his friends. He'd charge you the regular R50 for a bag of weed.

Not only did he throw the best parties but he also invited everyone. No one was excluded. You didn't even really need an invitation. You could just show up, get drunk and leave.

I don't where he got the money to throw all these parties, but I never did ask.

He was two grades ahead of me and actually graduated last year. I was a little surprised, I'd never seen him do any real work, but when the pass percentage is like forty percent anyone can pass right?

All I knew about his grades was that he did not pass with flying colours. If anything, his colours were crawling to make it to the finish line.

"Sup bru." Siya called into the phone. He was probably tipsy. Siya was actually quite a quiet person and didn't say much.

"Hey dude, how goes it?"

"Who are you, Freddie Benson?" he said with a laugh. He was a huge iCarly fan, but he didn't tell many people.

"Whatever man, how's uni."

"Stressful, but I'll take it over high school any day." He would have taken anyting over high school. they weren't the best years of his life. "Hey you know there's a reason why I called. I'm throwing a party this weekend, do you want to come?"

He never called me to his parties. He had always just assumed that I'd come and if I didn't he wouldn't ask why. When I first stopped going to his parties, he asked why, but I didn't elaborate on why I couldn't go and he never pressed me for details. He never pressed you for details because he unlike most people understood that there were just some things you didn't want to tell the world.

"You throw a party every weekend, what makes this one so special? Plus I don't really do that anymore. I've met girl and I've settled down."

"Ok now you sound like you're thirty five. Settled down? You haven't even left your parents house, you haven't settled anything!"

He was right. I tried to play it off though, but I just wound up laughing nervously.

"I did meet a girl though. Her name is Jasmine."

"Jasmine. Sounds Indian or something, they've got the best hair you know. If you ever want to make a quick buck cut her hair off while she's sleeping and make it into a weave. She'll be mad of course, but once you buy her something sweet she won't be, know what I'm saying."

This time when I laughed I wasn't nervous.

"She's black dude and if I cut off her hair she'll cut off my dick."

Now it was Siya's turn to laugh.

"Whatever bru, so is it a yes or a yes?"

"I'll think about it man, Jasmine doesn't really like parties, they aren't her scene and I don't want to go without her."

"Well, I'm not going to force you, I understand women, barely, just get back to me please, or don't. Just show up. I really don't care what you do, it's your life."
