A small boat rows along side the ship Revenge and the man on board calls up to the crew. They lower the ladder and lead the so called pirate to The captains quarters. A broken man sits inside and waits. The door opens.
“What are you doing here?” The captain asked coldly.
“I came to apologize” Stede replied “I shouldn't have left you but-” He was cut off by Ed's short laugh.
“But you did” Ed says “you did leave. Do you know how it feels to be abandoned by the one, the only person who you've ever really loved"
Stede opens his mouth to talk but no words come out.
"No. You don't. You've had everything you've ever wanted, you've never had to suffer. But now you will"Ed draws his sword and rushes at Stede. Reacting as quickly as possible, Stede jumps to the side and fumbles with drawing his weapon. Stede rises to his feet and matches his partner's stance. Ed goes for his shoulder, moving forward as he strikes. Swords clash and tensions rise. Stede has to continually block the onslaught of anger that Ed expressed with his sword.
"Just die already!" Ed screams.
A slash to the waist, a jab at the knee. They match eachothers move and in a meeting of swords the two men's faces draw close. Ed closes his eyes and breathes in his partner's lavender scent, The fighting slows.
“You don't have to do this” Stede tells him and reaches toward his face.Ed grabs his wrist and throws him to the ground “yes i do!” Ed yells
“I should have done it the first time I saw you”. he points his sword at stedes neck.
“Then why didn't you?”
Eds breathing slows and he lowers his sword “I don't know” he falls to his knees “I don't know”. Stede gets up and holds his lover tightly in his arms. Ed brings his hands to stedes chest and lays his forehead on his shoulders. Stedes grip loosens as a warm feeling spreads through his chest. He looks down and finds Eds dagger dug straight into his heart.
“Im sorry” Ed whispers
“I know. I love you.” Stede falls to the ground as Ed's grip loosens and eventually lets him go. His partner is left to bleed out on his ships deck
“I loved you too”
