The Truth

So this one requires some explanation. I'm in a creative writing club and our mascot is an octopus. His name is Ollie. Every year, the club publishes a magazine with poems and stories written by us and some of our peers. There's a competition for the people in the club to write the story or poem that will be first in the magazine, and the theme this year was "The Legend of Ollie". This was my submission. Don't know yet if I won the competition or not.
Update - I did not win the competition

The Truth
-[- C - L -]-

Open your eyes and listen, listen well,
A tale of horror soon to here unfold.
Listen to this legend, this truth I tell.
Give him every thought and hear his spell,
Your mind will soon be his to take control.
Open your eyes and listen, listen well.
Every word on paper, every worry quelled,
It is not you. It is this beast untold.
Listen to this legend, this truth I tell.
Without him you can never know yourself.
With him you become the you foretold.
Open your eyes and listen, listen well
The Octopus Lord pulls you from your shell,
His words pour over you like liquid gold.
Listen to this legend, this truth I tell.
Inside your thoughts some part of him does dwell,
He lingers there and frees your mind from cold.
If your eyes are open and you listen well,
You will learn the truth from what I tell.
