A week later

"Something on your mind?"

It was dinner time and (Y/n) was mindlessly playing with her food. she could only poke the vegetables with a fork as Diluc and Kaeya stared at her in confusion.

"Have you ever been rejected before?"

The sudden question surprised both the brothers as they continued on watching (Y/n) playing with her food. Diluc sighed and placed his hand on top of hers, halting her movements, "stop that."

Kaeya hummed and thought for a moment, "depends, is this between family or lovers?"

Without hesitation, "lovers."

"No, i have never been rejected before. unfortunately i never had a lover to begin with since i'm always busy," Kaeya thoughtfully said.

Diluc shook his head in response, "why the sudden question?" he then took back his hand and continued on eating his meal. (Y/n) sadly gaze down, "it's just because..."

"Because?" Kaeya raised a brow.

"Because i got rejected before i came to Mondstadt," (Y/n) mumbled quietly, but both the brothers heard her. they could only look at her sadly, can't even imagine how she felt being rejected then have to move to another region after that.

"I'm sorry," Diluc said, but (Y/n) frantically waved her hands around. "you don't have to apologize actually! it's just that he's been on my mind all the time, i couldn't help, but ask. i'm sorry for the random question."

Shaking his head once more, "it's alright. i don't usually involve myself in these lover type of things since i'm not interested myself."

"May i know why?" (Y/n) tilted her head as she stared into Diluc's fiery eyes.

"That's because Diluc is a virgin," Kaeya then dodge an upcoming fork thrown his way.

Diluc cleared his throat and fixed his collar, "i'm busy with my own wine business and at the tavern so i don't have time looking for a relationship right now."

It was like deja vu when (Y/n) heard Diluc said that. never ready to be in a relationship or doesn't want to be in a relationship. she couldn't help, but ask why. why aren't they ready?

"Why can't you be in a relationship right now?"

Diluc was caught off guard for a moment, but nonetheless answered truthfully.

"It's because i'm not interested, but if i was, i would know i would neglect that person," Diluc then picked up a napkin and wiped the corner of his mouth. "knowing myself and how busy i can be, i won't have time for them. so saving myself and the person, i don't want to look into any relationship right now."
