"Adeline, send a doctor to me when you're done."

The said maid stopped what she was doing and looked at her master only to see him furrowing his brows in concentration. he was sitting at his office desk while reviewing more important documents while Adeline dust the shelves in the office.

"What for, master Diluc? do you have an injury or are you feeling ill?" she asked politely.

The man shook his head and rubbed his temple, "my chest has been aching for the past few days."

"I see, i will get a doctor for you soon," then Adeline left leaving a conflicted Diluc.

Two weeks had passed by and Diluc has been feeling these weird heart ache in his chest. he didn't know why he started getting them or how he got them. was it because he keeps pulling an all nighter? stressing himself too much? that can't be because he had been doing this for years, so why now? hopefully a professional doctor has an answer for that.

A sudden knock snapped him out of thought. clearing his throat and fixing his collar, "come in." peek in was a smiling (Y/n) who was all dress up nicely.

There it was again. his heart shaking in a weird way, but not in a painful way.

"Sir Diluc! a doctor said he's here for you?"

Clearing his desk, "yes, please bring them in." (Y/n) stepped aside and let the doctor in. he was an old man that was probably in his 50s that had some strands of gray hair, but overall he looked kind.

Setting his bag down, "what is the problem, master Diluc?" the doctor asked as he put on his stethoscope around his neck.

Diluc gazed at (Y/n) who was still standing by the wall, thinking if he should tell her to leave, but this is just a check up so nothing important.

"Could you close the door, (Y/n)?" Diluc asked. the said lady nodded and did what she was told.

"I feel this weird feeling in my chest for the past few days. it's not painful, but it makes my heart feel faster and shakier," Diluc explained.

The doctor hummed and tapped his chin, "how odd, may i ask you to take off your top so i can check your heartbeat?" Diluc nodded, but first looked at (Y/n) who was now busy looking at his book shelves.

"If you're uncomfortable, you can leave (Y/n)."

The lady in the room looked at Diluc and shook her head, "i-it's fine sir Diluc, i'm kind of worried about you since you asked for a doctor in the middle of the day."

He didn't say anything, but took off his coat and button up shirt. he turned his back towards (Y/n) who then gasped as she saw all the scars on his bare body.

The doctor took the stethoscope and placed it around Diluc's chest area, "your heartbeat seems fine, a little fast for some reason. have you been eating a lot of sweets lately?" the doctor asked as he moved the tool around.

Diluc breathed in and out, "no, i haven't."

While the doctor kept checking on Diluc he noticed something. he watch Diluc's eyes gazing at something so he turned only to see the lady in the room twiddling with her fingers, gazing down at her lap as she sat on the office couch.

'Ah, now i see,' the doctor thought before chuckling which earned a confused looking Diluc. "did you find something what is happening to me?" he asked.

The doctor sighed and put the equipment away, "it's not something urgent or dangerous, but i'm sure the right time will tell you. now, i'm not a physiologist, but i'm sure you're a smart man that can figure out why your heart is fluttering."

Before Diluc could question even further, the doctor patted his shoulder in comfort, "don't worry young man, once the time come, you'll know." he then left, but before he could, he walked up to (Y/n).

"What's your name young lady?"

"(Y/n) K-Kimura."

"Well (Y/n) let me lead you on to a secret," he then whispered in her ear. "take care of master Diluc for me, he has been through a lot."

Widening her eyes, she saw the doctor smiling warmly at her, "well i'll leave you two since i have other patients to attend."

Once the doctor left, it became dead silent in the office. (Y/n) slowly looked at Diluc who was about to pick up his clothes only to feel a delicate hand stopping him. his breath hitched as he felt her cold hand touching his bare scars.

"What are you doing?"

Ignoring his question, "if you don't mind me asking, but where did you get these scars from, sir Diluc?"

"It's none of your business," Diluc replied as he was preparing to put his clothes back on. (Y/n) sadly gaze down, "but i'm worried about you." she whispered.

Stop

"Well then stop being worried," he coldly replied back.

"I can't! you always seem so deep in thought whenever i see you, it makes me wonder if you're okay."

Stop

"It doesn't matter, you can walk your way out (Y/n)."

She ignored the last part and stood her ground, "why do you keep shutting me out? first you would let me be around you, then the next you kick me out. do you hate me?"

Stop

Not replying, he could feel the tears threatening to spill from her beautiful eyes. "i don't want you to be alone," she then said.

(Y/n) knew what it was like feeling all alone. her clan was the reason why she felt all alone in this world. no one really there when she was injured or when she's in bed from a sickness. her birthday wasn't celebrated until she turned sixteen. everything she has done was for herself as her clan never noticed her presence.

Then the next words Diluc spoke broke her heart, "leave me alone, (Y/n)."

The tears she was holding back fell down and she bit her lip to prevent a cry. not saying anything else, she swiftly left the office, leaving Diluc all alone.

As her footsteps faded, Diluc shut the door harshly and went back sitting on his office chair. he knew he was too harsh, but he doesn't want to get too attach. he doesn't trust himself anymore if it comes to her. he can't deny that his heart aches more as he could picture her tearful eyes. cursing, Diluc went back to his work once again, to distract his misery.

Though, he opened his heart a bit more for the past few days, he still doesn't want to traumatized her with his secret. making her feel afraid of him and thinking of him as a cruel monster. the secret he kept hidden will always stay between him and his brother.

The secret where both brothers fought nearly to death and it will forever haunt him.
