Keep moving. Don't stop. Just. Keep. Running.
Harry repeated the words over and over as he raced through the halls of the Ministry of Magic. Up ahead, he could still see and hear Bellatrix running from him.
"I killed Sirius Black, I killed Sirius Black." Bellatrix taunted him in a singsong voice.
He willed his feet to move faster. He had to catch her. He had to make her pay for what she did. She'd taken Sirius from him. She'd taken the last of his family. She'd taken the last of Harry's hope. He heard hurried footsteps behind him, thundering against the shiny, wooden floors. But Harry didn't look back. He didn't dare take his eyes off the sadistic witch ahead of him. Her high pitched cackle reverberated off the walls, making Harry grip his wand tighter and his eyes narrow. His eyes were stinging with unshed tears, his throat still raw from the heart wrenching screams of grief.
The curse flew from his angered lips before he could stop it, sending Bellatrix hurtling to the floor. She squealed, quickly turning to face her attacker. Harry stared down at her, chest heaving and head spinning. The words were on the tip of his tongue, but they wouldn't come out. He couldn't do it. Her bottom lip quivered and her eyes widened. Harry couldn't tell if it was genuine fear or if Bellatrix was merely mocking him.
The air around him went cold, a chill wind rushed down his spine. He heard the gasps of his friends behind him. Bellatrix's face twisted into a sickening smile and the chuckle she released sent another involuntary shiver down Harry's spine.
"You've got to mean it, Harry."
Harry gripped his wand tighter. He shook his head, chasing away the shrill voice in his head.
"She killed him."
Harry felt sick as he watched Bellatrix grin triumphantly.
"You know the spell, Harry. Say it!"
Harry reached breaking point and spun on his heel, finding himself face to face with Voldemort. Harry raised his wand and prepared to attack, but Voldemort was one step ahead. With a wave of his arm, Voldemort sent Harry's wand clattering to the ground.
"You foolish boy." Voldemort sneered.
Harry looked his enemy in the eye, standing straight. Out the corner of his eye, he saw movement and chanced a glance. That's when he saw her. He saw the fear in her eyes. Her usual brave demeanor was gone, replaced with an image of pure terror. Ginny Weasley watched in horror as Voldemort gracefully circled Harry like a weak victim.
However before Voldemort could make a single move, the fireplace behind him errupted into flames and Albus Dumbledore walked out. His face was calm, void of any emotion. But his eyes were firm and angry.
"It was foolish of you to come here tonight, Tom." Dumbledore said, his voice deep but smooth. "The order are already on their way."
Voldemort sneered at Dumbledore. "By which time I shall be gone, and you, shall be dead."
It all happened so fast. One minute Dumbledore was slowly approaching him, standing barely two feet away from him. The next, Harry was sliding across the floor from the force of Dumbledore shoving him back. Harry had barely opened his eyes again when he felt two small, soft hands grip his arms, pulling him towards a smaller body. He looked over his shoulder to see Ginny gathering him into her arms. Harry allowed himself to lean on her, letting her comfort him. He just caught Bellatrix flee into an empty fireplace and disappear into the flames.
