All eyes in the cupboard flew to the size of saucers. They exchanged panicked glances and stepped back.
"There's no one in the cupboard. That cupboard doesn't open, hasn't done for years."
"Well, let's try blasting it open then."
"No!" Ron's voice was heard for the first time.
"Ah so I'm right. They are hiding in there. Well, aren't you going to introduce us?"
They heard footsteps approaching and the sound of the lock clicking open. Light flooded the small space as the door slowly opened, revealing Harry.
"I'm sorry." Harry whispered. "Don't speak." He added so only they could hear him.
Ginny, Hermione, Luna, Rolf and a shaking Hannah emerged from the hall cupboard. Neville, having heard the conversation, hurried down the stairs and rushed to Hannah's side.
"Well isn't this sweet." Hickson smiled. A shiver ran down Ginny's spine. Hickson was a tall, thin man with straw like hair, a crooked nose and a gold tooth. His eyes were dark and piercing and he had stubble on his chin.
"You're not going to hurt them, Hickson." Harry said in a dark voice.
Ginny stepped closer to Harry but Harry's hand found her stomach and gently pushed her back. His eyes never left his enemy.
"Well boys." Hickson addressed his followers. "I've decided who we're going to kill."
"No one is going to die, not today." Harry shook his head, his wand gripped firmly in his hand.
"I'm afraid someone is. Fair is fair, Potter. And I'm afraid we need to make it even. My brother is dead because of you. So now you will lose someone." Hickson shrugged.
"Your brother is dead because he was a coward." Ginny said defiantly. Harry clenched his jaw. "He killed himself because he was too scared to live with what he did."
Hickson's eyes darted to Ginny. He looked her up and down with a sly grin that made Harry's insides squirm.
"Feisty one you've got here, Potter." Hickson grinned. "I like it when they put up a fight."
Hickson rubbed his chin and then clapped his hands together with a single clap.
"I've changed my mind!" He declared. "We're not taking the best friend. We're taking the wife."
Harry stepped in front of Ginny defensively. "Over my dead body." He growled.
"Well if that's how you want it. I was hoping we could get this over and done with but if you want to die too, that's fine with me." Hickson said.
It all seemed to happen in slow motion, but at the same time, so quick that Ginny didn't know what happened. One minute she was watching Hickson draw his wand and shout a curse. The next she was shoved back roughly and her stomach was twisting uncomfortably. When she opened her eyes, she was in another room. Her eyes darted around frantically for any sign of her husband.
"Where's Harry?!" Ginny exclaimed.
A hand grabbed her arm.
"I'm here. You're okay." Harry pulled her closer and held her tightly. Ginny let out a breath of relief and buried her face in his neck.
"What happened? Where are we?" Hermione asked, holding Ron's arm.
"Upstairs, we don't have long." Harry said.
"How did they get in? The wards should have kept them out." Neville said.
"Wanglebugs." Rolf said. Harry turned to look at him, he'd almost forgotten him and Luna were there. They'd hardly spoke all evening.
