"Can you believe we're actually here?" Ron said as he draped his cloak over the back of his chair.

No. No, he could not. After four years of training, of late nights and even earlier mornings, of missed events and heated arguments with his girlfriend, Harry Potter was finally a fully qualified Auror. He sat down at his assigned desk, which sat back to back with his best friend and now partner, Ron Weasley. It'd taken some convincing on their behalf, but head auror Robbards had eventually agreed to let them be partners, especially after realising that they worked well together under pressure. They had, after all, spent most of their school years working together to bring down the darkest evil wizard known, along with the third to their trio, Hermione Granger. Not only was Hermione their best friend, but she was also Ron's girlfriend.

"Mad, isn't it?" Harry shook his head with a chuckle.

He was eager to get started, but that couldn't happen until a case was given to them. If he wasn't out on the field, he was expected to do paperwork to help out his coworkers. Ron often complained that they should receive some sort of free pass from doing the paperwork, given that Harry basically saved the world, and Ron had helped. But Harry preferred it this way. He didn't want special treatment. He didn't want to be handed opportunities just because he'd been the one to defeat Voldemort. He wanted to work hard and earn his opportunities just like everyone else. He wanted to blend in and be treated the same as his coworkers.

Unfortunately, some of his coworkers didn't get the memo. One man in particular, a new bloke by the name of Tim, thought Harry was someone to be worshipped. He worked as an assistant, passing messages, filing paperwork, and fetching the aurors' beverages and snacks. Harry thought he was nice enough. He was smart and hardworking, but he was perhaps in the wrong department. He certainly didn't have what it took to join them on the field. He was far too shy and timid to be an auror.

"Did you get the package Mum made up?" Ron enquired as he spun his chair side to side.

"I did." Harry nodded. "It wasn't necessary, but no amount of me telling her not to bother seemed to deter her."

"You know what she's like." Ron waved a dismissive hand. "Ever since you and Ginny moved out, she's got no one to fuss over."

Harry furrowed his brows but chuckled at his best friend. "Ginny and I moved out over a year ago."

"Exactly. Unless Bill and Fleur take Victoire to visit, she has nothing to do." Ron shrugged.

Bill and Fleur had welcomed their first daughter on the first anniversary of the battle of Hogwarts. It'd been a bittersweet day for the entire Weasley family. A day laced with sadness due to the loss of Fred, but a happy day celebrating the newest of the next generation of Weasley. Harry wasn't sure he'd ever seen Mrs. Weasley cry so much. Even Ginny, the youngest and only female Weasley sibling and Harry's girlfriend, had shed a tear that day.

"I told Ginny to thank her for me when she visits her later."

"Good idea." Ron nodded. "Oh, hey, has she heard anything from the Harpies yet?"

"No, not yet." Harry sighed. "She's convinced she didn't make the team again."

Two years ago, Ginny had tried out for a spot on her favourite quidditch team, the Holyhead Harpies. Unfortunately, she'd been unsuccessful. The rejection was enough to knock her confidence and doubt herself so much that It'd taken her two years to pluck up the nerve to try out again. Harry, however, was confident in his girlfriend's abilities. He'd played on the same team as her in Hogwarts, and he'd been blown away every time. She was a fantastic player, so he suspected her rejection from the Harpies the first time had been caused by her nerves getting the better of her. Still, he kept everything crossed that she'd make the team this time.
