Hey lovelies!

Just wanted to say that the second half of this chapter gets a little hot and heavy, if you know what I mean ;)

Apologize if there are errors or issues with flow, my brain doesn't seem to want to work today. Looked at too many mortgage documents at work today lol.

There was an odd feeling in the room when I woke. When I rolled over, the sheets were rumpled and cold. Rose had left some time ago. But looking at the clock, it was early. Too early. I pushed myself up and squinted around the room. It was neat and orderly last night, but now our clothes were strewn over the floor, draws pulled out of their holds, lampshades removed. I pulled myself out of bed and out into the hall where the same thing was there. I followed the trail downstairs and through the living room before landing in the kitchen.

"Roza? What are you doing?" I asked, blinking against the harsh lights.

Rose didn't answer me and kept pulling things out of the cupboards.

"Can you take that light cover off? I can't reach the latch," Rose asked, pointing to the light above us. I furrowed my brows but did it, knowing that it would get my answer faster. Once I pulled it off Rose popped up from under the counter and climbed onto the island, standing under the light while she fiddled around before tugging on a wire. It came out and laid in her hands. I wasn't quite awake so I stepped closer and picked the thing out of her hand and inspected it closely.

"What is that?"

Rose took it from my hands and dropped it onto the cutting board on the counter. She then turned and picked up a cast iron frying pan on the stove and slammed it down on it.

"That is how someone tried to frame me. Someone bugged the house."

I sighed and rubbed my hand over my mouth. "Fuck. Have you found others?"

Rose nodded. "Four so far. One in our room two in the living room and that one. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more."

I sighed again and leaned against the counter, shaking my head. This was going to be a horrendous mess.

"Where in our room?"

Rose chewed on her lip and ran her hand through her hair. "Under our bed."

I winced a little and swallowed. That thought wasn't comforting. No more comforting than finding that someone bugged our room.

"What even made you think to look for wires?" I asked as I made my way to the coffee pot and got it ready to brew. I needed caffeine in order to process all of this.

"It was too perfect. The details, the timing. I can't believe any of our friends would betray us. Deep in my gut, I knew that I wasn't them. I was getting up to go to the living room when I knocked my phone off the nightstand. I got out of bed and looked under the bed and lo and behold. Wire," Rose explained, rubbing her hand over her chin, her face expressing how dishevelled she was.

I nodded and waited until there was enough coffee brewed before pouring a cup and putting the milk and sugar in. Taking that meg, I came around the counter and pressed it into her hands, waiting for her to take it.

She relaxed enough to take it and I ducked my head down, kissing her head. Even though she wasn't saying it, I could see that she was freaked out. And I didn't blame her, I would be unnerved if I had been the one to discover it.

"Breathe. Drink the coffee, and we'll talk to Abe when he gets here," I whispered, running my hands over her shoulders. Rose nodded and lifted her mug to her lips, sipping slowly.
