I wanted to beat my head against the table. We had spent three days trying to find proof that Tasha did it, and we came up with babkas. Short of breaking into Guardian Headquarters and overhauling the security room, we weren't going to get much there.

But the idea of getting access to the security system made me wonder. If Sydney could do something like disrupting the feeds, what would be one the feed beforehand? There wasn't anyone I knew that could break into something like that here. But there was someone who might be able to help me do it.

"I don't see anything," I sighed, slowly moving my eyes over the screen.

"Try the code again. If the system is the one I think it is, it'll turn green and give you a log-in page," Dante said over the video call. I glanced at him but tried the code again and watched the numbers and letters flit over the screen before the login page popped up.

I fist-pumped the air with a triumphant grin. "Yes. Let's make this system my bitch," I said with a smile.

"Easy, tiger. You still have work to do. Did you get the email I just sent you?" he asked. I looked away from the computer screen to my phone. Dante looked back at me vaguely when an email notification popped up on my screen.

"Yeah, now what?"

"I want you to hit control, alt, tab. A new page should show up. I want you to go to that page and open the email. Once you do that, split the screens and run the program."

I furrowed my brows and looked at him, even though he couldn't see me. "Huh?"

Dante smirked and laughed. "Right-click the taskbar – the line where you have your power icon – and click the split-screen."

I nodded and did what he said. It took me a few tries before I got it and I watched the program run. Codes were running in sequence in the log-in tab and I chewed on my lip. I leaned back in my chair and pulled my foot up to rest on the seat.

"What's it doing?"

"Trying to find an access code. You should have been able to figure that one out for yourself. You're smarter than you look."

"Hey!" I exclaimed but laughed it off. He was just pulling my leg. I looked over my shoulder when the door opened and smiled at Dimitri and Fanny. Dimitri raised his brow at me.

"Say hi, Dante," I said while my eyes moved back to my screen.

"Who am I saying hi to? That tall drink of water that's been living with you?"

Dimitri chuckled and rested his hands on my shoulders, massaging them a little bit. I hummed and tipped my head up to look at him, flashing him a smile. Dimitri dipped his head down and pecked my lips.

"Hi Dante," Dimitri said. Dante raised his hand in a wave. "What are you doing?"

"Dante is teaching me how to hack the Guardians' main security server."

"Wouldn't it be easier for him to do it for you?" Fanny asked, plopping down on the bed. I raised my brows at her with a grin before shrugging.

"I need to see the screen to do that," Dante said. Fanny raised her brows at me in confusion.

"If you need to see the screen to hack, how do you know how to do it?" Fanny asked curiously.

"I wasn't always blind," Dante said shortly, "How do you think I know all the loopholes? I worked for the government. This is literally what I did. But I also was told to never hack again, so if I tell Rose how to do it, I'm not breaking the law."

Dimitri squeezed my shoulders again and leaned against the table, crossing his arms over his chest. Fanny ran her hand through her hair with a frown.

"Did you get hurt at work?"
