Me : The police arrested someone

Jake : What?
In connection with Hannah?

Me : Or with Amy, the body, in case you remember

Jake : And do you know who that is yet?

Me : Hah, have you forgotten who you're talking to here? 😎
Phil Hawkins, in case that means anything to you

Jake : Yes.
I do not want to comment on this circumstance at the present time.

I laughed looking at what Jake wrote. Was he jealous? Of Phil? A womanizer? What would he say if he found out I brought a stranger to the safe house with me... probably shouldn't even bring that up. I don't need him getting that distracted. It's bad enough we already can't get out of each other's minds.

Jake : I must get an overview of the situation first.
I am sure that you have found out quite a bit in all this time.

Me : Alright then, what now?

Jake : Give me some time before we discuss everything else. I have to set up my equipment and read everything first.

Me : 😕
You didn't do that while I was on my way to the safe house?

Jake : I needed an excuse for you to take care of yourself.

Me : Sneaky, sneaky
Alright, that's fine.
I'll let Lilly know that you messaged me
She was worried about you

Jake : Thank you (Y/n).

Me : I missed you... so... don't disappear on me again, okay?

Jake : I missed you too, (Y/n).
I couldn't think of anything else except you.
What I would tell you when we finally spoke again.
How it might be once all of this is over and we have found Hannah.
I was especially afraid of losing you.

Me : Why should you be losing me?

Jake : I was afraid that you would no longer want to be in contact with me out of fear.
I had left you alone.
I wanted to protect you and I only made everything worse.
Can you forgive me for this mistake, (Y/n)?

Me : You were forgiven the moment you messaged me...

Jake : Thank you.
:)
I will get back in contact with you again as soon as possible.

Me : You won't leave me alone again, right. 😔
I don't think I can handle that again...

Jake : I promise, you won't have too.

With his promise, he logged off and I shot a text to Lilly and let her know the Hacker issue was taken care of as well. She was glad to hear it, and I agreed with it being her fault if anything happened to him. That said, I also agreed that the video ordeal was over and done with now that he was back. Only because she got him back for me, was I willing to make up with her at all in fact.

As far as if it was over, I didn't think it ever would be for him, or me. We would always spend our lives on the run from shadows of our pasts. As far as him messaging her, that would be something that was going to take some doing, but I could probably get him to. Talking wasn't really his strong suit after all.

Jessy messaged me about a murder in Duskwood that happened ten years ago. The name she typed was about a girl named Jennifer Hanson... so it was a typo, or a misremembered pronunciation. She had just gotten done speaking with Iris, Jennifer's mother. "Hey. Listen. It's been almost exactly ten years now since Jennifer disappeared in Duskwood without a trace. She had been on her way to her dad's, but she never got there. The whole town looked for her, without pause. Until her body was found by an employee of the lumber mill. The police were so sure it was murder, until the officer concluded that Jennifer had injuries that could not have come from an attack on her. It turned out that Jennifer had been hit by a car and that she had died on the site of the crash.
