"What's happening?" Jessy! She sounded okay, and the lights were the only thing that cut out. I heard the scream and thought about the worst. It seems as though they're okay.
"Calm down." Cleo lit a lighter granting some illumination in the room. "It's only a blackout. We already had one this afternoon." Thankfully Thomas knew where the fuse box was. After he turned the power back on, we ended the call and switched to text messaging. Apparently the fuse box was a disaster area, and they needed to be prepared for it to happen again. Jake messaged me after Lily asked about how Michael knew where they were. I was going to keep my suspicions about Richy to myself for the time being.
I had no evidence about what I was saying, and it would be insane to try and convince them about my gut feeling. I wouldn't ask them to go off of it, and instead would try and compile my own evidence about it. Where would I even start with that? Proving that their friend was never their friend. That he was only there to gain information on Hannah and her friends before execution.
Jake : (Y/n).
I saw what happened and consequently re-checked Hannah's phone data.
By opening the maps app, the hut's location was sent to Michael Hanson.Me : Oh, shi...
I had a bad feeling about the location... I am so sorry.Jake : I know.
Me : Did Michael trick us?!
He's going to come for them!Jake : I will tell the others.
And I will take full responsibility for what happened.Me : No, Jake
They've only just started trusting youJake : I gave you the instructions to open this app.
Besides, I know what your friends mean to you.Me : Either way, I don't want you to do that
They know that I'd never do something like that on purposeJake : That is a very honorable decision.
With that conversation coming to a close, I turned my attention back to the group chat. Jessy was trying to argue that it was just to make them scared again. I disavowed that notion with the truth. About how I had made a mistake and that they were no longer safe. I was just... angry with myself. I let this happen.
I explained about how when I went to turn on the location for the GPS, I in turn also activated location sharing without knowing it was even on. This shouldn't have happened. Richy or Michael knew we would come for the phone and lead us into that trap. He planned the whole thing, even through my suspicions about that phone.
But, I knew we needed the information it contained, so I pushed those thoughts aside. I wanted them to get out of there. To find somewhere safer than the hut. Dan disagreed. Dan wanted to wait at the cabin and stop running. Which was completely ridiculous! He was in a wheelchair. How would he be able to do anything there if they came for the group?!
He supplied that the house had only four entrances, two downstairs, the door in the main living room, and the front door. He wanted the group to keep an eye on all of them, meaning he wouldn't be able to get by unnoticed. Outnumbered and with a weapon, he thought they had a fighting chance. Was the gun even loaded? Dan said it was loaded enough to fight the 'must old legend.'
Yet, he had only one good point. We knew he was coming, but that didn't make them safer. I wanted to know how much he had to drink. Which was, according to him, hardly anything. Cleo, Thomas, Jessy, and Lilly wanted to stay. I didn't. I fought tooth and nail, but lost. They were done running. So there was nothing I could do to change their minds.
Everything was going to end tonight in the end. Whether they left or not, by then... we would either find Hannah or she would die. All I know how to do is run. I've always run... and fighting back was never an option for me. I'm not ready for it... to confront the things that terrify me.
