Chapter 20: "They come in waves..."

Konstantin along with his comrades were waiting for the enemy attack in the dug outs. It was hard to see because of the dark.

Konstantin: It's quiet, too quiet...

He aimed down waiting for something to make a move. After some time he heard footsteps down the hill. A little later one enemy was in his sights, he shot a bullet to the enemy's head and that enemy rolled down the hill. Not soon after more arrived.

Konstantin: Unleash hell on them!

He shouted while shooting at the enemies. They returned fire with some lasers Konstantin ducked and yeeted a grenade. An explosion was heard and the enemy fire stopped, he took a look down the hill to see the enemies dead.

Konstantin: Clear! ....for now. Any casualties?

Soldier#4: Three wounded. None dead.

Konstantin: Send in medics to treat their wounds.

Soldier#4: Roger that.

As they were having a small break to drink and have a small bite of their food. Something was heard in the distance. Konstantin knew that sound very well.

Konstantin: Mortars! Take cover!

The soldiers were hiding in their dug outs for cover. After awhile the barrage stopped, grunting was heard in some areas and snipers went to look out for mortar nests. Konstantin looked down the hill to see another group of enemies down. 

Konstantin: More enemies down! Fire at will!

They were firing down the hill at the enemies, they returned fire. Konstantin was shot in the shoulder and got to the ground.

Konstantin: Not even a flesh wound.

He got up and fired back at the enemies, he used the GM-94 on the enemies. In short time they were also gone. The mortars were also gone.

Konstantin: How many casualties now?

Soldier#6: 16 wounded, 2 dead.

Konstantin: God rest their soul. Be on alert men! If you someone not in our colors shoot them!

He went to get the ammo boxes to the spread out the soldiers who needed it. When everyone was prepared they got into their positions and waited for another wave of enemies.

Three hours went by and no enemy activity. Few of the soldiers were sleeping so they have energy to scout ahead when their shift comes. Konstantin was looking at his old photos with his team, family, etc. He needed to keep his sanity up somehow. The bell was rung once again for the alert of incoming enemies. Everybody stopped what they were doing and got to cover. Konstantin was waiting for an enemy to pop up in front of him with his weapon. But instead of a humanoid android, he saw a robot dog jump him. It pounced on him he pulled out his combat knife and stabbed it repeatedly in the neck until it went limp. He picked up his rifle and started shooting down the hill towards these dogs. His fellow soldiers were getting jump by the dogs too, he shot at the dogs to help them, it was risky for him. After the last dog was killed, the androids were now attacking them, in way larger numbers. He did his best to stand on his position, his soldiers however were getting killed or wounded by them. He didn't want that to happen.

Konstantin: Regroup in the rear positions! 

He gave the order to retreat to the back rows where his comrades were, soldiers from the front row were carrying wounded too with them. They covered the soldiers while doing so.

Soldier#8: Sir! We're being attacked from the back!

Konstantin: Situation?!

Soldier#8: Not bad, but not good!
