Chapter nineteen: I Missed You
"Are you sure you wanna do this?" Jonathan asked, letting go of hand but grabbing my shoulders lightly.
Two days ago, he spilled everything. How he became alpha, his pack, the territory, his father, his family and his business in the mafia. Turns out they were the biggest mafia in the U.S. which really doesn't surprise me.
I learned that he has a cousins around our age and around Gaberial's age along with a younger one. I think she was fourteen while her brother was ten another was seventeen or eighteen though but they were kinda of a trouble makers and belonged to a different pack due to their father. I told him what his father told me about my father and here we were, standing in front of his house close to the borderlines of Jonathan's territory.
I looked up at him and nodded. He nodded back at me and stepped back. I sighed and walked towards the door.
"Come on. You can do this Leila." I spoke to myself giving myself a check again. I looked okay, not to me and not to not me but in the middle. I looked up and knocked on the door. I turned and gave Jonathan a nervous look. He nodded and I turned back just in time seeing the door open.
Holy damn.
"Uh hi." I spoke feeling really small. This man, this being was enormously tall like 7'2 tall. He crossed his muscular arms across his buffed up chest, raising a brow at me. I can see where I got my eyes now. He had short, messy spikes brown hair while wearing a tight grey shirt making his body and muscles just pop out and dark blue jeans.
"Hello. Need something?" He asked in his super deep voice making me feel more small and vulnerable.
"Uh yes. This is Jonathan." I spoke changing the subject quickly, gesturing to Jonathan who moved forward now standing beside me.
"Sir." Jonathan nodded to my father.
"Alpha." My father nodded back.
"Well uh. His uh - dad. Told me that a man named Emmanuel Sanchez lived here." I fiddled with my fingers, moving slightly closer to Jonathan.
"This is him. Why are you asking for me?" He responded making my eyes water a little. I looked around before sighing and turning to look back.
"Well uh - you see." I started, patting my fist with my hand. He raised an eyebrow, obviously annoyed.
"Come on babe. You can do it." Jonathan placed his hand on my shoulder, giving me a small reassuring smile.
"This is your mate, alpha?" He asked, pointing at me. Jonathan nodded and looked back at me.
"And she has something very important to say to you." He spoke.
I looked down, taking a deeper breath and looked up at my father's eyes. "Hi dad. It's me. Leila." I gave him a small smile.
He looked at me skeptically before giving me a really surprised look. I wouldn't blame him, I was only four when he last saw me. I would look different.
"Leila. You've grown so much. I hardly recognized you. Look at you. How- how did you find me?" He asked giving me a curious look.
"Well after Jonathan came back after four years, I learned about werewolves, your past, his life, I met his father and well lots of stuff happened. Anyway, Jonathan's dad told me about you." I spoke.
He stayed quiet, taking all the little information in.
"Why did you do it dad? Why did you abandon us?" I asked him, feeling tears building up.
"I-I didn't do it on purpose. I had to. To protect you and Barbara, your mom. Wait does she know?" He asked, his voice cracking a little.
I shook my head, trying to keep myself together and not cry in front of him.
"But I am going to tell her." I spoke with as much seriousness I can. "She needs to know."
"No. Wait. Please, give me some time to prepare." He asked, getting on his knee, just to look straight at me.
"You had twelve years, dad. Don't you think that was enough time to be prepared for this." I told him, feeling my heart tighten with each word.
"But I never thought this day would come though." He spoke, placing his hands on my upper arms. His hands were huge that only one hand can just grab both my arms without any problem.
"Oh well." I shrugged. I may love my father but this is what he deserves, he left and made us think he was dead.
"Oh yeah. Jonathan do you have my file?" I asked Jonathan, looking at him. He nodded and headed towards the car.
"What file?" My father asked, standing up, cleaning his face up.
Jonathan quickly comes back with a black folder in his hands. He looks at me waiting for my approval. I nod and he nods back, than hands my father the file.
"It's a file. Of what I done for the past twelve years. Trust me, some of that stuff is not even pretty." I chuckled while he scanned the papers.
"You had a drug addiction?" My father asked, looking...down at me.
"Really? From everything from those papers you just ran through. You happen to notice the druggy part?" I made a face, moving my hands around. "But yes. Yes I had a drug addiction." I said with now seriousness.
"I was just making sure. I mean I saw a lot but just have to make sure it's actually true. I mean it says here that you got arrested twenty-three times. How is that even possible? For a girl like you." He said, making the face I made.
"Eh. It's possible. I mean I'm not perfect. Mom has a struggle with me but I do good in school, I'm a good child to her. I'm just a 'trouble maker' I suppose." I did quotation marks around the word trouble maker.
I sighed and moved forward, wrapping my arms around my dad's torso, slightly shoving my face in his chest. He stiffened up a little but relaxed and hugged me back.
"I missed you dad." I mumbled, feeling tears falling down now.
"I missed you too cupcakes." He spoke, making me hug him tighter.
I should be mad, disappointed in him but I'm not. I wanted my dad and that's what I got. I have my dad back even though he was here the whole time. I still got him back.
I pulled away and chuckled a little. "Well, we should get uh going. I need to get to class even though I already missed well ditched first and second. Can't miss the whole day now." I spoke, wrapping my arm around Jonathan's waist.
He wrapped his arm around me and gave me a small squeeze. I looked down and smiled but went back to serious when I looked back up. I won't show emotion right. No nothing.
"I hardly believe that school matters to you after scanning this." My father chuckled, "But very well. Take care." He added.
I laughed and nodded in agreement. "Bye dad. And you have two days. Not two months or two weeks or two years. Two damn days for you to think of something to say to mom. Bye now." I glared at him and walked away.
I heard him sigh and mumble a small okay. Once the door shut, I instantly relaxed, feeling the pressure off of me now. I looked up at Jonathan and smiled.
"Well, that went well." I spoke, making him laugh. I pouted and poked his stomach. "I'm serious. It kinda went well."
"I know. I just never like knew that was your father. He's very intimidating. Now I know where you got it." He chuckled making me laugh along.
"Well come on. We gotta get going to school now." I pulled in his arm running towards the car, while he stumbled from the sudden movement, making me laugh at his surprised face.
