Chapter thirteen: The Family Truth
It's been two days from that stupid Reyes dinner, and I feel shitty of myself for ignoring Jonathan. He didn't do anything but his father did. He crossed the line and I just have to get away for a while.
I look at the sky, wrapped around my cozy blanket, I take a small sip from my hot chocolate. It's already half way through December and winter break is coming.
My friends and I still are planning on going somewhere but we don't know where yet. We were planning on going to Paris - which to me is too expensive - but we decided to move that for spring break.
"Mind if I join you?" A voice spoke from the doorway, I turned and saw my mother with her own blanket and hot chocolate.
I smiled softly at her and nodded, "Sure."
She walked over and pulled a chair next to mine and sat down. We sat there in complete silence, staring at the cloudy sky. I took another sip of my drink feeling the warm liquid run down into my stomach warming slowly by time.
After Jonathan dropped me off, I went straight to my mom and told her everything. I could tell she was devastated from the fact his father used my father against me. She didn't like the idea of me yelling at him but she completely understood why I did it.
"I remember when I was younger, your father and I use to spend most of our time outside, wrapped in our blankets, looking at the sky just enjoying each others company. With our hot chocolate of course." She spoke making me chuckle a little.
"I miss him." I whispered looking down at my hands.
"I miss him too, sweetie. Have I ever told you the truth about your father?" She spoke putting a piece of my hair behind my ear.
I looked at up at her and gave her a puzzled face, "What truth?"
"Well I guess you haven't noticed but you have werewolf genes in you. That's why you're so strong, smart, have great hearing and smelling and perfect eyesight." She smiled at me while I still looked at her confused.
I'm part wolf?
"How is that even possible?" I questioned her only to her sigh and place her hand on my knee.
"Well your father is a werewolf, he was the son's beta in his pack. His father - your grandfather - was very wise man along with alpha, of course. When your father was around the age of 17, he was kicked out the pack. Banished. Turned out the alpha's daughter went into his room in only her underclothes and well both fathers came in and she told them that your father tried to rape her when it wasn't like that." My mom paused taking a sip from her chocolate.
"After being banished away. He was furious cause they didn't even let him speak the truth. He was so furious that he joined hunters to kill his own kind. He was just so angry, he wasn't thinking what he was doing. But of course he had a big heart and he never hurt the innocent. Only bad wolves and rogues. This became very famous in their world; 'werewolf now hunter of its own kind.' He was most wanted at that time." She took another sip and I did the same, hooked to what she was saying. I never knew he was a werewolf, and a hunter as well.
"When he turned 20, he found me. I was this nerdy girl from college in this state. I already knew about werewolves well cause my best friend was one. We started talking, hanging out, and than we got married. But before we met, he met Robert. Your father just came to ask if he could join, only to be rejected. But after we met, Robert changed his mind and let him join cause I was after all his wife's best friend. They became great friends. Jonathan came along to the world and than you. And of course later on Gaberial. Well anyways, your father had to go do something. Take care of something in his old pack. When he got there, he was kicked out again, they didn't let him even speak. When he was driving home, some of those wolves of that pack, crashed into his car causing his death." I watched as tears ran down her cheeks, only to make my own eyes tear up. I leaned forward and wiped away her tears with my finger, making her smile at me.
"Your father was a great man. He may have done horrible things. But he also done great things. You're just like him. You had three rough years but here you are, doing the best you can. He wanted the best for you and I know even though you done horrible things, he's still proud of his little girl." She smile and kissed my forehead.
"I still don't get how I'm part wolf." I whispered, taking every information in at once.
"Well there was a fifty-fifty chance that you would be werewolf werewolf or just with genes of a werewolf." She caressed my hair while she spoke.
"So I won't shift into a huge wolf, right?" I asked making her chuckled.
"Right. And you also might have inherited something from my side too, you know?" She smiled at me.
"And what's that?"
"Telekinesis." She smiled making me laugh a little.
"Be for real mom."
"I'm serious, sweetie! I may not have it in me. But your grandmother did and your great grandmother as well." She said making me feel all confused and weird.
Telekinesis? I thought that shit ain't real.
"Too much information today mom. Thank you." I laughed holding my head with my two hands.
"You're welcome." She laughed.
We sighed at the same time and looked up that sky. I saw my cloud and I pointed at it.
"There's dad! Hey dad. How you been?" I spoke making her chuckle.
"It's a heart shaped cloud, sweetie. But okay. It's dad. Hey Emmanuel. We miss you." She caressed my hair again while we sat there staring at the clouds.
