I didn't think what I did was that bad.

I just wanted Carter to come over, I didn't think he'd wreck on the way.

I nervously tapped my thumbs on the steering wheel, heading to the hospital after his mom had called me. It had began to rain making me even more agitated.

The paramedics were still lit up outside the entrance as I ran into the building. "What room is Carter Reynolds in?!" I asked hysterically.

I don't know if that's actually how it works I've never been in this situation.

"He's about to get X- Rayed you'll have to stay on the waiting room until then," the lady at the front desk said. "What's your relation to the patient?"

"I'm his girlfriend." I say, my voice shaky.

"Alright. Are their any close friends that could be expectant for Mr. Reynolds you wouldn't mind calling? Only 2-6 guests are allowed but if you could call that'd be less work for the doctors." the lady says, handing me a clipboard to sign my name.

"Yeah," I sighed, getting out my phone and going straight for Shawn's contact.

"Um hello? Maggie?" He answered.

"Shawn, Carter got in a bad wreck and-"

"What?! Where is he now? Are you at the hospital?!"

"Yes."

"I'll be there in minute."

I hung up and sat down in the silent waiting room by myself and waited for Shawn.

Shawn was the only one I knew to call, Carter had never introduced me to many of his friends from school, since I went to a different school.

A blonde boy burst through the door, startling me. I was alarmed when he asked for Carter, saying that he was his cousin.

"Are you Margaret Lindemann?" He asked, sitting down next to me. "Yeah, who are you?"

"I'm Matt, I uh- do you know what happened to Carter?" He asked, running a shaky hand through his hair.

"I don't know how it happened but he had a head on collision with a transfer truck," I said, the boy wincing at my words. "It totaled his car."

"Is he gonna be alright?" he asked as Shawn barged through the door, soaking wet.

"I don't kn-"

"Where's Carter?!" Shawn asked hysterically, his eyes going back and forth from me to Matt; looking worried.

"Excuse me. You can see Carter now but don't wake him and don't touch him whatsoever," the nurse snapped, heading back to a room. "He hasn't gotten any casts on him yet but they've gauzed to wounds."

We all followed her, eager to see Carter.

"Try not to make half as much commotion as you did in the waiting room, you woke up this entire hall." She spat slamming the door as she exited.

"Oh Carter," I wailed bursting out into tears.

He looked like he had been mangled.
