Chapter - 10

TOO ARROGANT

"I wonder what your blood tastes like?" The vampire smirked.

Everything around me happened so quickly that I didn't get time to comprehend it.

I traced my finger along the bookshelf behind me and pulled a tome out of it. Just before I could swing and smash it against the vampire's head, he was pushed off of me.

Because of this sudden action, I stumbled a bit but still managed to stable myself.  I breathed heavily as I was out of the vampire's grip and looked at the person pinning the noble Vamp.

"Jimin..." I mumbled and he stopped for a moment to look at me.

"Jungkook, are you alright?" Jimin asked, concerned.

"Y-yes." I replied.

The vampire groaned and spun Jimin around. Now he was pinning Jimin on the ground.

"Now it's time to end this game." The Vampire said simultaneously a sword pierced through his back.

"Too arrogant to even notice my presence." Jin remarked as he watched the vamp's body turn into ashes. He inserted his sword back into the sheath.

"Good thing I arrived here on time." Jin said as he released a sigh of relief.

"What would've happened if I didn't make it at the right time and saved you both? Probably you two would have already become his dinner." Jin rebuked and I avoided eye contact.

Jin paused for a moment. His eyes shifted to the crushed handgun and the dagger I used to stab the vampire. He huffed out and massaged his temples before resuming his scolding session.

"You really thought you can kill a Noble Vamp using an ordinary weapon without any enchantment or spell?" Jin looked at me as if it was the most obvious thing for anyone to know. No offense, but I really thought I could at least harm the vamp with it, maybe a teeny weeny bit.

I always wondered why every higher authority or officer in the Demon army owns a specific weapon but never got to know about it. I mean, with an ordinary weapon I can at least kill a normal vamp or even a soldier vamp.

"But you guys at least did one good job. And I really appreciate it." Jin said and I pursed my lips.

I glanced at Jimin and he just shrugged his shoulders. Jin kneeled and picked up the old book named The Fear Of Demon, which the noble Vamp was holding earlier.

"Thanks to you both, the noble distracted from his mission and didn't succeed in his attempt of stealing this book." Jin acknowledged.

"Steal that book? Why would he come all way here to steal a mere book? What's even in that book?" Jimin questioned before standing straight.

"You don't need to know about it for now." Jin said, "As you still have many things to learn."

When will I finally become an officer and kill the bloodsuckers?

I pouted as I fell into a trance. But I was brought back to reality when the door opened with a loud bang and Sora burst into the room.

"You're late, Miss Sora." Jin spoke.

"I'm sorry, Colonel Kim. I won't repeat this mistake in future I promise." Sora apologized and bowed multiple times.

"You better not." Jin said as he left the room.

"Thank heavens, Nothing much happened." Sora exhaled as she scanned the room and Jimin. She then walked towards me and narrowed her eyes.

"Jungkook.... you've got bruises on your neck." She said worriedly.

Bruises? Maybe it's because the vampire strangled me.

"Don't worry, Miss Sora. I'm alright." I said as I lightly pressed my fingers on my neck.

"No, you are not." Sora responded, "Come with me to the infirmary. I'll get you treated."

"Jimin you too come along."

[NARRATOR'S POV]

Ambling through the slightly dim hallways, his footsteps echoed and his infamous black cloak wafted with every step he took.

The corners of his lips stretched into an elegant smile as he stopped in front of a room. He wrapped his hand around the door knob before twisting it and making his way inside.

The moment he settled his foot inside, he heard

"What brought almighty Lord Lucas to my room this time?"
