➹ Chapter 14➹
Alex
I sit on my bed, leaning against the wall as I watch Calvin play Myth-o-magic on my videogame system. I throw an annoyed look at him but he remains oblivious at my silent death threats because he plugged in the headset.
I finally get fed up and kick him on the side. "You kick like a man," Calvin frowns at me after he takes off the headset.
"This is all your fault." I snap at him, narrowing my eyes. It aggravates me that after what happened today, he still doesn't care. Some might think it's a fifteen-year-old phase but I know that it's just how my brother is.
"It's my fault?" he stares at me as if I've grown two heads.
"Yes," I cross my arms snobbishly. I'm waiting for the time karma will get him back.
"You're the stupid one who left the monitor on in your account! And you're the idiot who didn't even think of putting up some kind of security wall in our accounts!"
"Shut the hell up, woman," he glares at the screen. "You can't blame me for everything."
"Damn yes, I can."
Liam left a while ago, looking so high and mighty. He didn't give me a chance to respond to his suggestion of Aven and Vade teaming up. I stormed off to my room after that, having the urge to murder my brother. I found him in my room, busy with the game. He told me he didn't want to go back to his game when Liam was around. I upsettingly told him what happened. He only laughed a few times, absorbed in the game.
I thought about what happened a while ago. Calvin and I live under the same roof, so Liam must've mixed up the characters. The guy he talked to on the phone correctly found Aven's IP address but when Liam got to the house, he immediately assumed it was me — when in fact, I'm not Aven.
Now, he feels smug finding out who Aven really is. And not only that — he offered for a team-up to crush Scarlet and the rest of the top six.
This is all messed up.
And what's worse, I've never seen Liam in this kind of light except when he was Vade. The Liam I know dated a few girls, but treated them nicely, like a gentleman. He was almost never mad at anyone and he was never caught without a smile. Like I said before, he's the epitome of goodness.
When he backed me up the wall, that wasn't the Liam I knew. I realized then that I didn't know him that much and there's much more into his personality — like me.
Calvin must have seen my hurt expression because he pauses the game and removes his headset. "Look," he says, "Think of it this way. You agree to his suggestion, as Aven and then invite him to play together. Then, you can observe his techniques and secrets so in the finals, you can beat him."
"That's a really good idea, bro." I look at him pointedly, "But you missed the fact that I'm not Aven!"
"I'll let you play her until this is over," he tells me, "I'll take care of Scarlet, but I won't give you too much."
I narrow my eyes at him, "I don't trust you with my stuff, especially my vault."
"They'll be safe," Calvin smirks, "And I'll put up protection for the both of us like you wanted."
