The cat walked into the hollow stump and dropped dipper. A grey cat with black and brown spots was sitting in the corner. The cat that brought dipper to the stump cleared its throat. The grey cat turned around. "What is it?" he asked. "This kitten disobeyed Thistle" the cat said. "Fix him up Oak".

The cat left and Oak looked at dipper. "You are new. what is your name?" He asked. "Um. My name's dipper" dipper said. "Interesting name. I am Oak. The medicine cat for The Fang". Oak said looking dipper's cuts and bruises. "I need to clean out your wounds. Go sit over there" Oak said gesturing toward a pile of moss.

Dipper went over to it while Oak took some wet moss and set it on dipper's cuts. "Are you sure this is sanitary?" Dipper asked. "Yes" Oak replied trotting over to a pile of herbs. He put some herbs in his mouth and chewed then walked over to put it on dipper's wounds.

"Ew! You are not putting that on my cuts. That is disgusting!" Dipper cried out. Oak spit the chewed up herbs onto his paw. "You might get a fever. It is safer if I put the herbs on your wounds. It will also lessen the pain" Oak said. "No!" Dipper yelled. "You will be more vulnerable if Thistle attacks you again" Oak said.

Dipper hesitated. "Fine. Just do it" he said. Oak smirked and started putting the herb in dipper's wounds. Dipper grimaced. "I need to wrap the gash on your chest. It is pretty deep" Oak said grabbing some cobweb. Dipper allowed oak to wrap the cobweb around his chest to cover the gash.

"You will need to stay here for the night" Oak said. "I have no problem with that" dipper grumbled. Oak gave dipper a sympathetic smile. "So where do you come from?" Oak asked dipper. "Um. From the mystery shack" dipper said. Oak cocked his head. "That is very far away. are you a pet?" He asked. "Not exactly" dipper said. "You wouldn't understand". Dipper turned his head away.

"I don't. I was born in The Fang so I don't know what it would be like to be a pet". Oak said. "I'm not a pet!!" Dipper hissed. "Sorry" Oak said. Dipper's stomach rumbled. "Are you hungry?" Oak asked. Dipper nodded. "Follow me" Oak said trotting out of the stump.

Dipper followed Oak to a pile of dead birds, mice, voles, etc. Dipper looked at it disgusted. Oak picked up a vole with his mouth and looked at dipper. Dipper looked at the pile of animals and wrinkled his nose. "Is this all you have to eat?" Dipper asked Oak. Oak nodded.

Dipper sighed and picked up a small bird with his mouth. He followed Oak back to the stump and they began to eat. The bird tasted surprisingly good and dipper are it quickly. With his hunger satisfied dipper began to feel sleepy. Oak had finished his vole and was tending to dipper's wounds.

Oak finished tending to dipper's wounds and gave some water to dipper. After dipper had drunk all the water he fell asleep in the little moss bed he was on. The moon shone through the front of the stump illuminating the inside. Oak curled up in another moss bed and fell asleep.
