Georgia And Mika

A new beginning

Mika made sure to stay for a couple hours whilst my mum slept, I showed him my mums journals from throughout the years. From the moment I was born all the way to the point we were redirected to Italy when the boarders all shut at the start of 2020 and the diaries stopped. He smiled inquisitively as I told him the stories of my mums modelling and amateur acting career and then listened mournfully as i told him of our struggles as we were only allowed out for food and couldn't make money in the worst days of the Italian lock down and how my X factor Audition came to be. Eventually it got dark and he was due back in Rome soon. Although he had one last thing he wanted to do.

"Michelle, Im about to go but would you join me on a walk?" Mika shook Mum awake and she nodded her head. "We have a bit of catching up to do." He smiled softly as Mum got up.

Mum was gone for about an hour in the pouring rain. I wondered what the two of them would talk about and if she would come back happy or sad. I looked at the picture mika picked up of me and my mum in LA when i was about six, could this really be the end of the two of us and change to the three of us?

As I stared dreamily at the picture Mum walked back in the door. she was smiling despite the mid July thunderstorm. "Hi darling, Me and your Dad had a little chat, tomorrow hes moving us out and that we will get to meet his partner." She smiled as she took off her wet coat and gloves."He also said happy 18th birthday despite the fact he was a month late for it." she came up and hugged me. "This is a new beginning for us" she whispered.

Sure enough the next morning there was a knock on the door, 10 men from a removal company begun shipping things from our bedsit into a van. half an hour into the move a man entered our room with two golden retrievers by his side. The two dogs came running over and started licking my hands and face.

"Melachi, Amira, sit!" he commanded the dogs and they sat down beside him, looking up at him excitedly. "Hi I'm Andy, Mika's partner, I'm so happy to meet both of you, this is such a shock!" He excitedly shook both mine and Mum's hands."So you'll be moving into our house in the Tuscany countryside, its not too far of a drive from here and you'll love the views!" Andy smiled as he led us out to a blacked out limo van paid for by Mika.

"Girls, In you get" Andy said to Melachi and Amira and they hopped in the car after us and laid down on the floor. "I have to say, It was a massive shock last night but a happy one! Trust me if things were slightly different you wouldn't be suffering." Andy smiled, he was just as nice as Mika, maybe slightly less expressive.

As we left Florence I saw a Billboard with Mika's face on it and 'X Factor Italia'  written in big letter next to him. I smiled uncontrollably. "Do you think It will be awkward?" I said, thinking out loud.

"What do you mean?" My Mum turned to me with a puzzled look.

"Surprised Mika didn't tell you, I didn't go to Rome to busk, I auditioned on X Factor, Do you remember me telling you Before you ended up in hospital?" I smiled. She nodded and looked down, she looked slightly upset I didn't tell her the truth.

"About that, "Andy piped up. "Its very possible you won't be taking part in the show anymore, theres a strict no family policy. One of my family members living in Naples was kicked off the show just for her slight connection to Mika through me, Mika ended up having a disagreement with the management as they literally through her out onto the street." Andy looked at me with a frown.

I couldn't exactly say I wasn't upset, even annoyed slightly. Mika could of brought this up before he left the day before. I hoped he didn't have a habit of abruptly leaving without giving important details. "Its ok, I lied slightly "I don't want to be known as female Mika."  I looked back at my Mum and gave her a big smile.

"You are his female counterpart though, even down to the smile." She teased me.

Eventually we got onto the small winding Italian countryside roads and approached Mikas idyllic ex farm house in the rolling hills. The car stopped in front of the old wooden front doors and Andy followed by the dogs stepped out. Andy held my Mums hand and helped her down from the mini van.

"I hope you enjoy it here! Follow me!" Andy opened the oak doors to the beautiful house and me and Mum followed him in as the dogs walked between us before running off down some narrow stairs to the cosy looking kitchen. We walked to a Largeish room With two bed neatly made with a bunch of welcoming flowers laid upon each pillow. "This will be you two's room, Sorry about having to share, If it wasn't for the covid restrictions we'd let you stay in the Miami Mansion.

"You have a mansion in Miami?!" My jaw dropped. This was truly a new beginning for me and my Mum, we clearly would no longer have to survive on one meal per day and busk for money. I'd never been so grateful to anybody in my life before. I hugged Andy, which shocked him and my mum a little. "I'm so thankful for all of this wow!" I began happy crying. Andy smiled sweetly. "I'm gonna make you two some lunch then we can spend the rest of the day getting settled in, then tomorrow we can surprise Mika when he comes home for a couple of days." Andy skipped off to the kitchen. "Sharky, Moo, Dinner time!" He called to the dogs.

My life had changed yet again in a couple of days.
