Mika and I left the studio pretty quickly as we knew within the next few minutes desperate press would be looking for any sort of reaction and both of us were in too much shock for that and we didn't need the extra stress. Mika was trying to keep a low profile, he was hunched over slightly as to not look as tall and a large face mask and dark Ray-bans shielded his eyes which i knew for a fact were either watering with tears or darting back and forth in worry. Sometimes I wondered weather he enjoyed the outbreak of covid just so that he could walk around without being hounded by people.
We made our way to the fountains in an awkward silence. I held onto Mika's hand tightly as my other hand held my phone with the directions on. It was a warm day and by this point I had taken the suit jacket made for me off as it was roasting me, it hung from my arm inside out as to not draw attention. My eyes darted from side to side as I hoped no Paparazzi had spotted us. As we got there my stomach rumbled yet again and I saw A little cafe in direct view of the stunning fountains. A big sign that read "TAKEAWAY ONLY" was plastered over the sign but a little old man still stood hopeful of customers at the door whilst a radio played some Neapolitan music loudly behind him. I took a quick look at the menu and decided Mika was in no condition to speak as he still stood slightly hunched over in silence with his face hidden by the mask glasses and cap.
"Two Cheese toasties please!" I said in Italian, the old italian man smiled and gave us a quick double look as if he recognised us but couldnt place where. Mika wondered off and sat on the fountain wall edge, his head buried in his phone, I felt awful for him, these last few months had been hard for him, His Mum being Ill, his pregnant sister and his Mom catching covid, Finding out about me, having to deal with my mums issues daily and now this explosion. I got the toasties and walked over to him. He took it out my hand, lowered his mask and gave a reassuring smile before tucking in.
"I need to help Lebanon but I don't know how." he huffed looking out over the fountains whilst munching on the toasties I looked at him as an idea popped into my head.
"What about a concert? Not a real life one, due to the virus and stuff but Like an online one so everyone around the world can watch, Imagine millions of people watching a concert to help raise funds for Lebanese people!" I suggested, his eyes lit up from what i could see from behind those dark shades
"Oh Georgy you are a genius!" He smiled sweetly as he looked into my remorseful eyes. "I'll make the plans straight away, when you go up to your Mums house later today I'll start planning.
Sure enough that night I got back on a train to Florence, Mum waited for me at the trainstation, she didn't look happy, infact she looked mad, a swarm of news reporters waited at the station platform, probably hoping mika had escorted me back to Florence, upon seeing he wasnt there most of them took a few pictures and left.
"Why has he let you come back home alone?" She crossed her arms and huffed. "Anything could of happened to my baby!" she turned around and started walking out of the station and back to the flat with me struggling to keep up with my bags behind her. I saw a few people taking photos, I hoped my Mum didn't notice them and flip out.
"Mum, I'm Literally an adult now and Mika's too busy with The charity concert planning for Beirut to come up to florence with me." I rolled my eyes. She made a few small and snotty remarks under her breath as I stayed silent, not wanting it to turn into an argument.
A few days past and I heard nothing from Mika, I got the odd update from Andy. According to Andy they were renting out a theatre in Rome, Kylie Minogue was gonna be singing and that they were gearing up for the concert announcements and promotions. I was angry, Mika could atleast tell me himself or Andy could be a little more informative. I had to look at his instagram, Just like the rest of his fans for proper updates.
"Its his birthday in 2 days, Not a single word from him, Do you think if he really cared about you he would of spoken to you?" Mum said smugly as I looked at his Instagram page on my phone. I rolled my eyes as she huffed at my lack of a response and wondered off.
Speaking of the Devil, a few minutes later Mikas name popped up on my phone. I answered the call and without hesitating I shouted "ITS BEEN NEARLY TWO WEEKS, SOME COMMUNICATION WOULD BE NICE!" I heard my mum laughing from the front room, she clearly knew who I was talking to."Sorry, sorry, I'm not used to this got side tracked, you sounded like my Mom then, she says exactly the same things. I wanted to invite you to my birthday celebration in two days, My entire family will be there and then afterwards we will be working on the Beirut Concert if you would like to join us, meet up with my family and siblings finally, I would love your influence in our planning and the concert!" He said down the phone.
"Ok, fine but will you please actually keep me in the loop, I'm your daughter not a fan or a co-worker, I shouldn't have to get useless updates on instagram when I'm in your phones contacts!" I lectured him.
"I am really sorry Georgia, Promise you, I will make it up to you. OK?" He said down the phone. We said our goodbyes and I began packing for a week at his house.
"You're seeing him again arent you, I wouldn't bother, he's barely spoken at all, clearly your just there to make him look good." She growled, eye rolling.
"Its not like that Mum." I sighed
