Haruya sat in the back of his car, smoking as he waited for the informant. For some reason Izaya insisted he would only see him at night. He looked at the sky, it was now dark, and a cresent moon hung high. "He's late." Haruya said, in an angry tone. Suddenly he heard a tap on the window of the car. Looking to his right he saw a familiar silhouette. Sighing, he unlocked the door and let the informant inside. "Where were you?" He asked harshly. "Sorry, I was dealing with Shizu chan." The informant explained.
"Figures. One of these days he will put you in an early grave." Haruya remarked. He then noticed Izaya's appearance. The informant was paler than usual, and was wearing sunglasses despite it being night. "Do you have a hangover or something?" The executive asked. Wondering why Izaya was wearing sunglasses in the dark. "Nah, just a bad headache is all Shiki san." Izaya lied. The executive stared at him silently for a few moments then looked away. "So, you need info on Deadwolv I assume. I know this much, he may not actually be a threat to us." Izaya then said."We have a new problem. Seems this Deadwolv isn't the only killer now. Someone has been targeting the Yakuza. And now three Awakusu Kai have been found dead. With their throats bitten, and drained of blood. Yet no blood at the scene of the crime." Haruya explained to the informant.
"Oh...I see. So a vampire wannabe?" Izaya asked innocently. Though, there was a hint of fear in his tone. "Mizuki and even Shuu think it's a fake. Just some edgy bastard playing vampire. But, I am not so sure. Nor is the big boss. If fake, then where did all the blood go? And why were the marks on the necks almost too clean. As if the victims were paralyzed, or asleep before being bitten. Yet no drugs in their system and the cause of death is blood loss." Haruya explained.
"Don't tell me Shiki san believes in vampires." Izaya laughed, though stopped when the older man glared at him. "I already hired someone to do research on them. Though I believe you too know a bit about mythology?" Haruya then asked. Izaya nodded. "How would one kill a vampire?" Haruya questioned. Izaya paused thinking about the question. "Well, they are technically immortal. Even after killing one they can come back if the body isn't destroyed properly. They are also terrible at swimming and will drown in large bodies of water." "Kind of like you..." Haruya interrupted. Izaya laughed softly. "I heard rumors a wooden stake won't actually kill them. Just paralyze them until it is removed. To actually kill it you must pierce the heart with silver, and or decapitate it. Then burn the remains or it can come back." Izaya finished explaining.
"What about garlic and crosses?" Haruya looked at Izaya. " Garlic can make them weak or sick. But holy artifacts will only work if the user has true faith. Silver can burn a vampire though." Izaya explained. "I heard sun kills them. And they must sleep in coffins." The executive said. "Wrong. Those are myths. Sunlight will not kill a vampire. May make it a bit weak, but not kill it. And the coffin only is for the nosferatu types. Literal dead bodies revived by demonic forces as a blood sucker." Izaya told him. "For someone who finds the idea of vampires silly, you seem to know allot." Haruya remarked. Izaya chuckled and shrugged. "Well, just because they are not real, doesn't mean they are not interesting to read about." The informant smiled.
Soon the car stopped outside Izaya's apartment so he could leave. As he got out of the car Haruya noticed two odd things. One, Izaya wasn't wearing his usual silver rings, but where they used to be was burn marks on his fingers. And two, as he walked away he cast no reflection on the rearview mirror. Seeing this Haruya's eyes widened.
The night after Haruya spoke with the informant, another vampire attack had happened. This time it wasn't a low level Yakuza like prior attacks. The victim was Mizuki Akabayashi. When Haruya had found his coworker outside his apartment, the one eyed man was barely alive from blood loss. Haruya called for help and had Mizuki brought to Shinra Kishitani's apartment imedietly to see if they could save him. The underground doctor took one look at Mizuki, and was surprised he was still alive. The man had been bit directly on the jugular, and had lost a great amount of blood. His cane was broken in half suggesting he had tried fighting back, but the attacker was far too strong.
As Shinra began examining and preparing for a transfusion he noticed something odd. In Mizuki's right hand was a piece of brown fur. Oddly similar to the fur on Izaya's coat. Before he could say anything Haruya noticed this as well and quickly grabbed the fur examining it. Shinra looked at the man with worry, knowing what Haruya was thinking. The underground doctor had noticed it himself lately. The sunglasses, the pale skin, and lack of reflection. His friend was a vampire. Which meant, Izaya must be the one who attacked Mizuki.
Haruya had a cold emotionless look on his face. But Shinra could tell. The man was furious. Haruya put the fur into his pocket. "Do what you can to save him. Contact me as soon as you succeed... or fail." He said calmly leaving the apartment. Once back to his car the executive pulled out his phone and called Izaya. "Orihara. I need to speak to you." He said in a calm yet deadly tone. "Oh, in your car like usual?" Izaya questioned, curious about Haruya's tone. "I'd prefer it to be in private." Haruya responded. "What about?" The informant asked. "About some information I need you to gather." Haruya said, then added "I can come over to your Ikebukuro apartment. I will be there soon." Haruya hung up the phone, then pulled out his gun looking at it, and checking the bullets inside. Each bullet was silver. He was unsure if silver truly could kill a vampire. But he was going to try. "Take me to Orihara's Ikebukuro apartment.'' He ordered his driver, putting the gun back into his pocket.
He knew since the night before, that Izaya was a vampire. But he hadn't mentioned it to anyone yet. Nor even questioned Izaya. Deep inside he had been hoping he was wrong. Or at the very least Izaya wasn't the vampire killing his men. But now he had proof Izaya had attempted to kill Mizuki, and may have succeeded. He now had no choice but to put the informant down, before he killed again.
