Dingdong!

(door opens)

"Oh god, where were you? School was over like 3 hours ago! You didn't even bother to inform us! Do you know how worried we were?"

"Ma, I'm sorry I forgot. I was just grabbing a coffee with Eri."

"Still, you should have told us. Do this one more time young lady and I will smack you with a slipper."

"Sorry, sorry. Now please let us in."

Typical Asian mom. Do one mistake and if you're lucky, you will get away with just a rant, but if you're not, then get ready to get your ass smacked.

"Hello Auntie."

"Oh Eric! I didn't see you there. Your mom called me a few minutes ago and said that you'll be staying the night."

"Yes Auntie. And I forgot to mention, you look beautiful."

I scrunched up my face. Yeah, go on and butter up my mom so that I can get an earful about how nice you are.

"Oh thank you dear. You look as handsome as ever."

"Hello Ma, I'm right here you know."

"So what?"

"I'm hangry. So if you can please excuse us." I said sarcastically.

"Always a drama queen." Mon scoffed.

I rolled my eyes at that. But of course, behind her. I wouldn't have been alive if she had saw me doing that. She's scary.

I walk up the stairs with Eric tagging along. Trust me, I love my best friend, but sometimes he and my mom team up to bully me and that pisses me off.

"Your room looks the same." Eric says interrupting my thoughts.

"Yeah, I like it this way." I replied.

I took a shower and changed to a simple oversized tee and sweatpants before sending Eric in to shower. After he was done dressing up, we went downstairs.

My parents love Eric. I sometimes feel they love him more than me. He is like a son to them. Why else do you think they'd let him stay over for the night? In my room at that? My family is pretty chill and laid back, but not so much to let a boy stay over for the night in their daughter's room.

Me and Eric helped mom set up the dinner table. Dad joined us and we started eating. I love Indian, so we got some dishes from the new restaurant downtown. I personally love their Hilsa in Mustard Curry. The taste and those rich flavours make me feel like I'm eating a dish made in heaven. We got some plain rice and the Hilsa. I was ecstatic, so I happily dug in.

"So Eric how are things going with Mark?" my mom asked.

Oh shit.

Eric visibly stiffened at the mention of Mark. That jerk. Mark had confessed to Eric and the two were happily dating until one of Mark's friends slipped up the fact that it was all a bet that stupid Mark and his friends made. It was a messy break up, and Eric had actually started to fall for him so it's still a sensitive topic for him. I still remember I had cursed him out in the cafeteria at school. I actually wanted to break his bones and skin him alive, but couldn't do it because of umm - various reasons.

"Umm, we broke up. He....."
