What have we gotten ourselves into? I've been thinking about home a lot in the last few days. It's all a bit of a blur. When Pony ran out, I told Darry and Soda I'd go after him because I knew where he'd go. I've always been closest to Pony - only a little more than I am with Soda, even though he's my twin brother. Steve is always annoyed when Soda invites Pony to hang out with them - so I do stuff with him a lot so the guys don't have to worry about Pony all day.

Johnny saved us that night. Looking at us, you'd think I'm the oldest - which is true of course, but that puts more pressure on me. I'm almost 17, how could I let this happen? Dallas gave us some money and sent us on our way. A big part of me wishes I went with my boyfriend, Two-Bit, instead of leaving the boys at the lot and heading home. If I did, I know I'd be worried sick about Pony and Johnny.

It felt like we were bummin' around in that old church for months. It hadn't even been a week. I missed home so much. Every time I would think of the gang, I wanted to burst into tears - but I couldn't. I had to stay strong for Ponyboy. We all had to cut our hair - which isn't fun when you're using a switchblade. Pony's blonde hair is gonna take some getting used to.

It was just another cold night. The boys were cuddled in front of the small fire, talking whilst I sat alone in the corner. With my back to the wall, I stared into space and thought about the past few days.

"You okay, Y/N?" Pony asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I looked at him and faked a smile.

"No you ain't." Johnny muttered. "What's wrong?"

"I'm a lousy sister." I sighed.

"What? No you ain't." Pony gave me a strange look.

"Yeah, I am. If I had just taken you home then we wouldn't be here." I raised my voice slightly but made sure I didn't rage on him.

"This ain't your fault, Y/N." Pony assured me.

"Yeah, you ran after him and tried to protect us. If anything, that makes you a great sister." Johnny tried to cheer me up.

"Yeah, tried." I echoed his word choice. "Obviously, I failed."

The three of us kept talking about it for a while. That was the only time I cried in front of either of them the entire time we were there. That was last night. I let them sleep above ground whilst I curled into a ball in the corner in front of Johnny. I had Soda's flannel over me like a blanket.

This morning, I woke up to someone shaking me. Opening my eyes, I saw that it was Dallas. I've never been happier to see him than I was in that moment. Pony and Johnny were bombarding him with questions and I joined in.

"Is Two-Bit mad at me? Oh, god, is Darry mad at me? He's gonna kill me."

"Hey, I can't answer everything at once."

"Sorry." I chuckled softly, just happy to see him.

After quickly talking about how hungry we all were, Dally fumbled in his pocket and pulled out an envelope.

"Special delivery for Ponyboy Curtis." He announced as he handed it over.

"Who's this from?"

"President of the United States of America." He said sarcastically. "From your brother, Sodapop."

"How'd he know where I was?"

"Told him I didn't know where you were but he didn't believe me. He really wanted me to give it to ya." He explained and walked over to me. "Lucky Y/N Curtis gets 2 letters." He told me as he handed me double the envelopes.
