For months, Lola would come over and tell me all the drama that was happening at their school. Apparently Devin had been getting bullied or at least what Devin called it. Essentially, several of the girls had began dragging her all over all of her socials. When confronted, they offered up screenshots I'd sent of Devin's comments on my post.
One girl had even told her she was just not pretty enough to act like that and get away with it. I couldn't stop laughing when she'd told me. Then she informed me that Devin and Devon broke up shortly after the insta drama. No one really knew why, he wouldn't say. But from Lola, everyone assumed it was because he finally admitted he was tired of her.
I did finally get to meet the infamous Matthew too, Jessi had brought him over, introducing me as The Girl Who Ruined Devin. She introduced him as The Gayest Best Friend. Matthew, Jessi, and I talked for hours, laughing about this or that or just straight-up shit talking people. Even if I didn't know them, the info he shared was more than enough.
When everyone was over at the same time, I decided to tell them about the current drama at the high school and in general. That's when I decided to tell them the Walmart story. "Okay, so, we were at fucking Walmart with Leah, right? And the cashier looks at all the baby stuff and starts screaming at Judd- asking why she wasn't good enough to carry his baby. Why I was and why he wouldn't answer." I stopped for a moment to laugh a bit as I thought of the rest. "He told her it was because they were kids. And then, she kept saying I was faking. Leah embarrassed the fuck out of her." I finished with a shrug.
I turned to Nick a bit later with a soft smile. "Nicky, wanna do me a small favor?" He shrugged. "Sure, what's up?" I pointed towards the kitchen. "I left my name notebook in there. Would you grab it and my pen, please?" His eyes lit up as he slid off the couch. "Do we get to help with names?" I glanced around the room. Andrew, Jay, Lola, Jessi, and Matthew sat around, looking at me with various expressions. "Of course, pregnancy brain is kicking my ass anyway."
Nick hurried along, grabbing my black notebook with a rainbow heart painted in the middle. It was my thing for the baby. Any time they did anything, it was written down. It would continue on until they were an adult, then I'd give it to them. I wanted to have all the main growing stages of their life. First few pages were strictly for names. Ones with a checkmark, Judd liked. Ones with a red line through them, he didn't. The line was just highlighter in case I really did love the name.
I flipped it open and crossed my legs, groaning quietly. "Fucking joints.." I grumbled to myself. "Anyway, names?" Various names were shouted at me from around the room all at the same time. I began to get overstimulated and held my breath for a couple seconds then slowly exhaling, hoping I'd be able to calm down. Instead, I broke down into tears. Nick on one side, Lola on another. Until Judd came downstairs after putting together the crib. "Hey, hey, Dyl, what's wrong?" He asked, shoving Nick off the couch and taking his spot.
I quickly clung to him. I cried into his shoulder about everything being too loud and the washing machine wouldn't stop beeping and he gave me a big spoon earlier when he knew I hated them and everything hurt so bad and I wanted my baby now. He rubbed my back in small circles. "I can take care of the loudness and the washing machine and I swear I'll never give you a big spoon again and I'll give you a massage. But honey, we have to wait for our baby. We don't want a squishy humanoid thing, do we?" I shook my head and relaxed into his touch.
He looked at Lola for a moment then pulled his phone out. I'd given him Lola's number so he could update her, that's all she really wanted and that was an easy task. After a few exchanged texts, Lola stood. "Hey, guys? Everybody is like so excited, me too. And that's cool. But like right now, Dylan is totally in a very emotional headspace and like, very sensitive. Could we like.. not scream name suggestions?" I couldn't tell if everyone was afraid of upsetting the pregnant woman or if they genuinely gave a shit but it was agreed upon pretty quickly.
Judd not-so-politely asked (told) everyone to leave, though it was known he was a dick so nobody really took it to heart. He helped me up the stairs and in our bed, covering me up and tucking me in like he usually did if he wasn't coming to bed too.
