Draupadi

I knew Satyabhama's each word was true but right then I was realising how true they actually were as I watched my cousins attacking my husband with their honeyed voice and fake smiles as he and princess Aryaa descended the stage after their magnificent performance.

And my husband?

He appeared extremely pleased with the attention he was getting as he kept chattering with them while occasionally throwing his luscious curls back but they refused to move away from his forehead.

My eyes drank his beauty. Instead of his usual white upper garment, he was wearing a purple upper garment paired with a white dhoti, only a long, thin neck piece was hanging on his bare sculpted chest, the rings in his ears appeared like suns peaking through his cloudy curls.

Not only was he the finest warrior, tonight he proved to be one of the greatest artists as well. The way he not only played Veena but sang along Aryaa made everyone astounded including me.

I released a desperate sigh wishing he were a little imperfect in some way, just a tiny bit.

Almost as if feeling my gaze on him, he eyes drifted and settled them on me, their intensity stealing my breath away, like they always did. There was something powerful in his stare, almost magical. They made me breathless, made my brain foggy and heart feel outlawed emotions.

"Stop it" Satyabhama's voice schlepped me out of the spell created by those golden eyes and immediately averting my gaze I straightened up.

"Wh-what?" Playing with my braid, I managed to question.

"Stop staring at him like he is the only drop of water your lost soul is searching for in a desert" She huffed "That guy already has a attitude problem"

"I was not!" I defended myself a bit too strongly "I was staring at my cousins, I'm seeing them after years, after all"

Really? That's the lamest excuse anyone has ever heard.

"You don't even know your cousins" Govind quipped while I chose to remain silent. It's not like I had much to say anyways.

"Don't you think they look good together?" Govind commented, leaning against the head of the throne. I and Satyabhana gave him a confused, blank stare.

"Aryaa and Arjun" He clarified making my heart squirm.

"Swami" Satyabhama gasped in a warning tone while I looked at Aryaa, standing beside my husband with a shy smile.

Her golden complexion shone against the  dark green lehenga she wore, her straight hair hanging lose. The make up was done artistically on her face, making her almond eyes appear bigger.

Of course she was beautiful and even an extremely talented singer as.

And they did look good together.
