A/N - A very long chapter ahead
Third Person"That cannot be true" Subalika mumbled to herself before looking up at Malini "Tell her Malini that she is baffling"
Avoiding Subalika's eyes Malini let out a sigh of despair "I wish I could do that" She then looked up at Padmini, panic rising in her "But the Princess really doesn't want anyone to know or even guess about it, she would be really upset if she gets to know you've heard hers and Kumar Arjun's words"
"Of course I wouldn't dare" Padmini assured placing a hand on Malini "But it pains me to see our Princess like that. We've seen her falling in love with Kumar Arjun before her marriage, The way she used to ask us about him, things that she couldn't ask Vasudev or her father..." She faltered "It was so very obvious"
Subalika nodded "And I remember we used to get worried because for us Prince Arjun was dead but our Princess never seemed to believe that"
The three women fell silent recalling the old memories with their beloved Princess. Subalika who was much older than all of them and loved Draupadi like her own child could not swallow the fact that the Princess who had already faced so much of trials in her life was experiencing yet another trial.
For Subalika, Draupadi was being childish. She wish she could tell the Princess how she should never turn her husband away when he already had other women to go to. It might even be possible to move the King of mountains but not the ego of a man and if the constant refusal ever hurt Prince Arjun's ego....
She jerked out of her thoughts. Subalika who was a dear friend of Prishati loved Draupadi too much to let that happen to her "The King has arranged for some sort of musical event, did he not?"
"Yes" Padmini replied with her brown narrowed in confusion "But it's rather small and would take place in the Nrityashala. We don't have to do—"
"Except we have to" Subalika stood up and side glanced at Malini "What I am about to tell or do should be between us, yes?"
Padmini and Malini shared a curious glance and stayed silent as the old lady began explaining her plan making their eyes widen and jaw fell on the floor
"But the Princess wouldn't forgive me if—" Standing up Malini began protesting.
"She doesn't need to know" Subalika's stern voice cut her off "No one needs to know, not even your friend Kuhu"
When Malini still appeared reluctant Subalika went near and placed her hand on Malini's shoulder "Think about it Malini, Prince Arjun already has Yadavi Subhadra and soon she would bore his child. If Princess keeps pushing him away, Prince Arjun would eventually give up. They already have such a complicated relationship and very limited time with each other, there is high chance that their relationship might never improve"
