I will be cutting the fight between Rengoku and Akaza a bit shorter because Amaya is actually joining them! It's for plot purposes ;)

Complete and utter dread along with fear coursed through Amaya's veins as she stared at the impressive demon sitting a small distance away. She had never felt a numbing pressure such as this before, so she couldn't help but swallow thickly out of pure distrust. She was so immersed into the demon's unexpected presence that she didn't notice how Tanjiro had tilted his head to the side from her lap to stare at the demon as well, a gasp sounding from his lips at the sight. The demon's eyes, looked almost bored and disgusted as he looked back at the concerned trio, the number engraved on them being something Amaya couldn't quite comprehend yet. This demon was Upper Moon Three, one of the three strongest demons currently alive.

She'd never faced off against an Upper Moon before, let alone any of the Twelve Kizuki, so this was an experience she didn't want happening in any case. Since the demon wasn't too close to them yet, neither of the demon slayers noticed the way the striped demon's eyes narrowed in the slightest when they landed on Tanjiro and Amaya, though they did gasp when the demon suddenly disappeared, leaving only a cloud of dust in the place he just was. Before they knew it, a fist whizzed past Amaya's face, too fast for her to see but too strong for her to ignore. The aura was menacing and even terrifying, she hadn't been this scared since the day her family died. But she was quick to understand that since the demon had completely missed her face for whatever reason, it could only mean one other thing.

The demon was aiming for the boy in her lap and her theory was confirmed as she saw the tightly clenched fist heading directly towards Tanjiro's face, the boy in question not even getting any time to even try and protect himself. Amaya moved to shield Tanjiro, but stopped herself when a bright red blade shifted into her vision, swiftly stopping the demon's attack by cutting his arm split down the middle. The demon jumped back with a few flips, landing a small distance away as he presented his severed arm with great amazement. Before they knew it, the arm's pieces snapped back together in less than a second, healing as if there never was any kind of wound in the first place. Amaya's eyes widened at the gesture, finding herself growing even more nervous since she now witnessed probably only a sliver of the strength and skill this demon held.

"That's a nice sword", spoke the demon for the first time, his voice sounding as smooth as silk yet as haunting as a curse, proceeding to lick some remaining blood off his regenerated hand tauntingly. Rengoku stood strong as he waltzed in front of the two teens on the ground, his loud and booming voice covering quite a lot of area. "I can't understand why you'd go after a wounded person first", scolded Rengoku firmly, while the demon opposite of him only smiled, a look of confidence present on his features. "He could get in the way of the chitchat... of you and me", responded the demon smugly. "What would you and I have to talk about? I'm meeting you for the first time but I already dislike you", insulted Rengoku, though Amaya strongly agreed with the Hashira's opinions.

"Is that right? Well, I loathe weak humans, too. The sight of a weakling just makes my skin crawl", mocked the demon, effectively snapping a nerve in Amaya's mind. She carefully removed Tanjiro's head from her lap, gently placing him on the ground before taking a stand next to Rengoku, ignoring the numbing aches she felt all around her body from her harsh fall earlier. "You have no right calling him weak. Are wounded people the only ones you go up against? Because they're an easier catch?" glared Amaya, trying and succeeding in hiding the tremble in her voice that would give away her true fear. She didn't know what she was doing taunting a demon this strong, but she felt like she needed to speak up, on Tanjiro's behalf, who could only stare in disbelief.

The demon smiled and chuckled lightly at Amaya's advances, shrugging his shoulders lightly as if to say she wasn't really wrong. "You're a snarky one, I see. I can basically feel the itch to fight me rolling off of you. But unfortunately, I don't think you and I will have much to quarrel about. Women aren't on my list of opponents", responded the demon, but this only took Amaya by surprise. "You don't fight women? I find you offensive", grumbled Amaya in return, giving Rengoku the opportunity to speak again. "It looks like our senses of value are completely different. I'd prefer you wouldn't insult this girl's capabilities", protected Rengoku, but the demon only placed a hand on his hip in a way that showed he didn't really care.
