*Julians POV*

I hop down from the stage, ignoring the screams and gasps from everyone watching and crouch down next to her. I pick up her head, resting it in my lap. I slide my jacket off and rest it on her, unbothered by the cold, January air.

Tears sting my eyes as I watch her scrunch her brows together and pant, trying to catch her breath. I gently swipe a lock of hair out of her face and hesitantly rest my hand back down.

"Jadey, w-what did you do?" My voice cracks and I feel a tear drop down my cheek. She looks up at me, a small smile on her pink lips.

"It's my job to protect you, even...after-" she coughs, wincing. I look down, my eyes widening at the blood seeping through her grey shirt. She cups a hand around the wound on her chest, and I look up at her.

"I'm sorry, Julian." She whispers, a tear of her own falling. Her eyes flutter closed and I frown even more.

"Don't close your eyes, Jade. Please, don't- I can't...." I drift off, a sob escaping my lips. I look up at the crowd watching and wipe my tears. "Someone call an ambulance! This isn't a fucking show!" A group of teenagers around Radellas age begin typing on their phones and my focus returns to Jade. She looks even paler, and the blood drips onto the cement, staining the ground around us.

I put my arms under her and pull her body up on my lap, cradling her close. She opens her eyes a little bit, looking at me. Her lip quivers as she takes a deep breath, wincing again, "y-you hate me." She looks down and I cup her cheek, another sob escaping my lips.

"I- I..." she looks up at me, giving me a sad-smile before her eyes slowly flutter closed. I kiss her forehead, tears now pouring out my eyes like a faucet.

"Someone help!"

I pace around the grey hall, sniffling. Jade has been in surgery for 13 hours, and I've been pacing this hallway the entire time. They wouldn't let me go in there while they prepped her, so I had to say goodbye in the hallway.

"Julian!" I jump, looking up at the voice. Destin runs towards me, holding his coat together as it slides down his shoulders, and a bag of groceries.

"Destin." I walk up to him, enclosing him in a hug. He squeezes me and tears come yet again. I sob into his shoulder as he rubs my back.

"She's gonna be okay, it's Jade for gods sake. She's tough." I wipe my cheek with the back of my hand as we pull away from each other, chuckling.

"Yeah, that's for sure." We both smile.

"Julian? Barley?" A nurse bursts out of the doors and I quickly walk up to her.

"Yes, hi, how is she?"

"She's gonna be okay, she's going into recovery right now. You can see her in a few minutes." I let out a breath and look at Destin. He comes and grabs my shoulder, smiling at me. "The bullet didn't hit any major arteries, it rested in her breast area, so, thankfully it wasn't fatal."

"Thank you, thank you, miss." She smiles and tells me the room Jade will be in, letting me know she'll come get me when I can see Jade.

I peak in the door, a bouquet of roses in one hand. Jades laying down, watching something on the TV.

I saw Jade when she came out of surgery, but the doctor said she wouldn't wake up till tomorrow, and she would still be drugged up by then. I stayed with her the rest of that day and night, and finally came home yesterday. 3 agonizing days, waiting till I can really see her.
