*Jades POV*

4 (and a half) Years Later

"Lili, what donut did you want?" I rest my hands on my hips, turning to look behind my shoulder at Liliana, my partner. She waves me off, muttering about a chocolate glaze.

"Okay, sorry about that," I chuckle, digging in my mini backpack for my credit card. "Can I have half a dozen, 2 chocolate glaze, one normal glaze, a powder, and 2 vanilla dipped? Thanks, kid," I lean against the counter, looking around the small shop as I wait for our lunch.

After I got the clear from my doctors, I practically ran back to school. I put in 3 years for criminal justice, graduated top of my class, and went to the police academy. now, here we are, a year after graduating. I decided I wanted to help people that went down my path, and so I became a detective and dedicated my career to solving gang crimes here in New York. It was only a few months ago when Liliana began working for us, we got assigned as partners and hit it off.

We definitely have different ideas for our lives, but I decided a while back that I was going to live in the now, so me and Lili actually get along well.

"That'll be 8.50," I hand the teen my card, waiting for them to give it back. They slide it back towards me after a minute, and I grab our box, walking over to Lili. "Nice to see you, Ms. Robinson," I wave bye, smiling at the kid and plopping down on the seat next to Lili. She's got her computer out, along with a small pile of papers and her notebook. I roll my eyes and push them to the side, making her scoff.

"Come on, no work during lunch."

"Kay', speaking of which, who do you think is hiding LaRosa?" I chomp down on my vanilla dipped donut, covering my mouth as I attempt to answer her.

"Don't know yet. It's my break," she's talking about our newest gang case, a lost gang leader in hiding--leaving us completely stumped as to his whereabouts.

"Okay, fine," she grabs her chocolate donut, taking a small bite and dabbing her mouth with a napkin. "Hey, did you watch the Met Gala last night?" My eyes almost pop out at her question, and I lean back, siting my arms up-top the light blue booth.

"Why do you ask?"

"Because....Julian...was...there......with....Destin......" she grows quieter with each word, sipping on her--probably cold-- coffee.

"That's cool," I nod, taking another bite out of my donut.

"Wanna see a picture?" I gulp the rests of the donut down, violently shaking my head.

"Nope, you know about the LaRosa case-" she pushes her phone in my face, cutting me off. My eyes adjust after a moment and I take her phone, looking at the picture.

Julian's wearing a bright pink suit with gold shoes and a gold tie, and by his side is Destin, wearing a neon blue suit and silver shoes and a silver necklace that falls down his suit, paired with a trail behind him, which fades into pink, matching Julian. They're both grinning, posing for the cameras.
