I was lying on my bed, staring at the ceiling for what felt like hours, trying to sleep, trying to push away the dark thoughts that had been consuming me.
My mind was racing, replaying every moment of the past few weeks. I sighed, realizing sleep wasn't going to come anytime soon. So, I decided to be somewhat productive and head to the boutique to get some things done.
I dragged myself out of bed, looking at the clock that read 3:16 AM. I threw on some sweats and a hoodie, slipping into my Crocs. The house was so quiet, even with the soft snores of Astro. I grabbed my keys and phone and headed out the door.
I parked in front of the shop, unlocking the door, and stepped inside going over to disarm the security system. The boutique was dark, the only light coming from the street outside.
I flipped on the lights as I wandered through the boutique, straightening clothes on racks, organizing accessories, and making mental notes of what small things needed to be done. For the most part, everything was ready, for the opening that was just a few days away.
I decided to head upstairs to check on the salon. The salon area was looking nice as hell, decorated so cute with pink walls and our logo on LED signs. The chairs were neatly arranged, and the products lined up perfectly. I walked around, checking the stations, and making sure everything was in order.
As I moved through the space, I found myself lost in thought. Memories of Mir flooded my mind—his laughter, his touch, his presence.
"This is why I came to distract myself," I sighed, talking to myself as I made my way to my office.
Sitting down at my desk, I powered up on my Mac, hoping work would distract me.
I was deep into my shit when my phone rang with a FaceTime call from Nya.
