Chapter 26: Part of the family

I hang up Chara's phone and didn't even say anything. All I was doing right now is just staring at the floor with cold and confused glare.

I didn't know what to do. Someone needed my soul for Asriel's life and I... Wasn't fully ready to accept this poor fate of mine. I wasn't afraid of death, but I still wanted to spend more time with Chara.

Prove her that not all humans are so fucked up like Shifty.

Maybe... Even make a family?

- W-what did he say? - Chara asked me. She was very nervous, but she already understood that we're... I mean, I AM in trouble by my depressed look.

- ... You're not going to give this thing your soul, right? - Chara asked coldly. But that only means that she's holding back her emotions as hard as possible.

But I stayed quiet.

- ANSWER!

- You know my answer already, - I only sighed while I could see how fear started to form up in her eyes, - It needs to be done, Chara.

- Don't tell me this bullshit! - she interrupted and grabbed me by the collar in rage mixed with panic, - Don't you dare to do it! Stop playing a fucking hero for once!

- Chara, - I answered calmly on her screams while freed myself from her grab, - You know that I killed hundreds of people. Maybe thousands. So let me save at least one life.

- No... - she whispered while tears started to form up in her eyes.

I only sighed and got up from the sofa again just to leave the house. Maybe for the last time. But before I tried to open the door, suddenly I heard.

- Does my feelings means anything to you at all?

- What? - I got a bit confused and looked at Chara while she only looked back in anger mixed with tears.

- I love you, you asshole! And you know it more than anyone else! And now you're going to give up your soul to someone so easily?!

After that we only stared at each other. I was looking in her brown wet eyes with my cold ones, but then I just sighed and approached her.

- I know, Chara.

- Then why are you so ready to do it?

- What about Asriel? Are you ready to accept the fact that your brother will die somewhere there? - after that Chara only looked away because of her mixed feelings. She didn't want to let me go, but she also didn't want for Asriel to die, - You won't be able to live peacefully because of his death. I remember how shocked you got when saw his scarf. HE is part of your family. Not me.

- You're too...

- What?

- You're too part of my family, - suddenly after that Chara decided to hug my neck and it happened again...

She kissed me again, but this time it was... Different. With every second passing by she was trying to harden the kiss as if trying to make the best of it while I just hugged her by the waist and I could feel her warm breath on my face once again. I could notice how Toriel got embarrassed by such a thing, but decided to not interrupt us. Looks like she didn't even know what to say in such situation.

Chara was trying her best to extend our kiss just to force me to stay here for a bit longer. Or she simply wanted to express all her love to me in one kiss? But soon we finally interrupted kiss as well as our hug. Otherwise Chara probably would kiss me for an hour or something.

- Wow... - I whispered in actual shock after that. The first kiss was more gentle, but that one... That was something, - You hold this one for a long time, huh?

But Chara didn't answer and just looked at me with big regret in her eyes. Obviously she still wanted me to stay, but understood my will as well.

- I'll miss you...

- I will miss you too, Chara.

And so I went to exit once again. But as soon as I was ready to go, I heard very quiet, but still audible cry.

I wanted to comfort Chara so much right now, but with each second passing by - Asriel was in even bigger danger.

So I just sighed and opened the door.

Whatever it takes. I'll save MY family.
