Unexpected (Shadow x Mobian!Reader)

A kendo wielding (a/t), a speedster, a hot-headed hammer wielder, flying fox, and an echidna that could throw a hefty punch all kept shelter from the harsh wind outside. They watched as the trees chipped away at the brisk air and the branches fall making a soft impact on the snow below.

The blue speedster, anxious as he was, mumbled to himself about needing to get out there and finding the Emerald. Zipping around from one side of the cave to the next, like a rat in a cage searching for a way out. "We can't just sit here! Eggman is out there looking for the exact same one and we know it. For all we know he's inside getting his meaty little claws all over it." He planted down next to the rookie for only one second before he flashed up again and tried running outside. The red echidna grabbed his arm forcefully and planted him back.

"No. It is far too dangerous for any of us to go out there. Including you Sonic." He let go of Sonic and sat cross legged with his hands on his knees. "We need to think of a plan of attack if the doctor is there." Sonic grumbled something and sat with his knees up and his arms folded over them. His ears were back against his head and he was biting his bottom lip.

"I think we should try and sleep this storm off and figure it out when we wake up." The young pink girl chirped on the other side of Sonic, and the fox nodded already lulling into a sleep of his own. "Tails is too cold for him to fly and I can barely feel my fingers to do anything." Sonic groaned and threw himself backwards onto the rough ground "It's the smartest option."

"I agree." The (a/t) spoke up bringing the attention to them. "Most of them are tired and cold they should sleep by the fire and regain their energy." Sonic groaned again.

"I can just do it on my own easy peasy," Sonic got up again but was shut down by the brute again. "Knuckles come on let me try at least."

"No."

"Please?"

"I said no. End of discussion. We can't risk you being trapped out there in a Sonic popsicle." The others snickered at the embarrassed hedgehog as he sat in the far part of the cave.

"Fine. I'll keep watch though." The group eyed him suspiciously. Knuckles leaned forward to the (a/t) and whispered for them to stay awake too just to make sure he doesn't take off. You  nodded and got up.

"I'll join you. I'm not too tired myself." Sonic glared at them and rolled his eyes.

"Fine, but I don't blame you if you fall asleep this will be boring." He stretched out the 'boring' trying to get the other to back out. But you persisted and dragged him to his feet to the entrance of the cave they camped in to make sure no robots or people found them.

"Get some sleep guys I'll keep watch." You said and Sonic corrected them saying "we will keep watch." He emphasised 'we'. The others know what you were meaning though. Babysit the hedgehog.

The two sat at the entrance, unable to see three feet ahead of them due to the rushing winds. The (a/t) wondered exactly why he would consider going out there alone, they chalked it up to him being impatient and needing some sort of stimuli at all times. But that answer still didn't seem right. "Sonic?" He made a 'hmph' noise, signalling that he was listening but his eyes still focused out in front of the two. "Why did you keep insisting on leaving?" The (a/t) wasn't paying attention to what was ahead of them now, only the blue boy next to them and slightly annoyed at his thought process.

"I just want to get this mission over with as fast as possible to get you guys home." You rolled your eyes at the response, he wasn't thinking of what could happen to him and how that also could effect the group.

"Typical. You need to slow down sometimes and think of what could happen to you." You roughly poked his arm. "You'd probably freeze."

"I'm fast enough to unfreeze."
