Unexpected (Shadow x Mobian!Reader)

"So you stayed here the whole time I slept?" You sat up in your bed and tried talking to him again. When you woke up he was in there same spot that he had been in when you fell asleep. And again he did not answer you, it felt like you were talking to a wall with eyes that followed you. "Can I go to the bathroom?" You swung your feet over the bed and went to stand, nearly falling to the pressure on the still injured ankle. He darted his eyes down to the ankle then back up at you with a sigh. He spoke into his wrist quietly and the door opened behind him then he walked out, standing just out the way to let you out. Your ears perked up and you stumbled out of the room. "Wow, holding the door open for me? Such manners." You sarcastically said when he closed the door then turning you around and putting a hand on your shoulder pushing you in the direction of what you hoped to be a bathroom. Every step was agonizing and he showed no sign of remorse or pity. Just a stoic expression that stared straight forward. 

You two reached a door and he had opened it for you again. "Two minutes." He gave you the time limit and you ran straight in closing the door behind you. Shadow outside though teleported outside the computer room and peaked inside. Eggman was asleep in the chair. Typical. Shadow sped his way in and took an emerald from the glass case and teleported back outside the bathroom just in time to see you coming out. Your eyes grew at the sight of the emerald in his hand. "Sit down." You used the wall to keep your balance as you sat down on the ground, more than confused with him. 

"What are you plotting?" He knelt down next to you and put his hand on your injured ankle while the other held the emerald when his hand touched it your gut twisted in pain. He closed his eyes and waited, he had told you that the emeralds can heal. This must be what he's doing. Soon the pain stopped, he removed his hand and blipped away, returning with nothing in his hand. "Why did you heal me?" 

"Do you always ask this many questions?" You stood and now you could stand without an issue. 

"Thank you. Now where to boss?" He grabbed your shoulder once again and he shoved you further, now with ease, back into your cell. "Can I at least have something to do? I had a journal in my bag maybe I could do something with that. " He nearly threw you in the cell and this time left you alone. "Or leave me alone. That's cool too." You didn't know if he could hear you but you now were able to get around the room easier, now the vent looked like a reasonable way out if only you had a way to get up there.

Bed bed was mounted to the wall and you couldn't reach it from under the vent because it was too high up. You walked up your your bed and climbed on top of it to stand and gauge the jump.

When Shadow left you, he went back into his room to follow your request on getting your journal. The only problem was that he didn't want to give you a pencil or a pen and there was nothing else on the ship that could let you write. He knew if he gave you either a pen or pencil you could use it as a weapon if you tried hard enough. He had the book in hand while he wandered around the ship thinking maybe Eggman would have something to substitute. He went into the kitchen and saw his boss preparing a meal of some kind.

"Ah welcome Shadow, care to join me and our new friend on a feast for the Gods?" He clasped his hands together and bowed down to the hedgehogs height.

"I do not eat." The grin on Eggmans face faltered and he sighed.

"You're no fun." He placed plates down on a table for him and the new "friend" otherwise known as (Y/n). "Go get them for me at least, I would like to have a little chat with them." Shadow followed orders and collected you from your room.

When he entered you were still standing on the bed looking around the cell for any type of leverage or indent in the wall to hang on to.

"Eggman summons you to dinner." Your attention snapped to Shadow who stood holding your journal.

"My journal? Why do you have it?" You jumped down and squinted at him, he as always did not answer and instead escorted you out to the dining hall. You wondered if he had listened and went to get it for you to cure your boredom.

"Ah welcome." Eggman bowed and pulled a chair out for you. You cautiously sat in the chair and he went around to the other side of the table sitting down. Shadow stood on the side still holding your book behind his back. "I hope that Shadow here has been kind and welcoming as well."

"If you count watching me sleep in my cell as kind and welcoming, then yes he has been a treat." Eggman looked to be shocked at what you had said.

"You what?!" Eggman threw his hands on the table and looked at him  in disbelief.

"You had ordered me to watch them."

"Do you not understand privacy?!" Eggman rubbed his forehead.

"In situations with prisoners there is no privacy. I simply did as I was told." Shadow straightedge his back and looked forward just above the table waiting for his next orders.

"I am deeply sorry for his intruding action." You tried not to giggle at the one sided bickering and continued to talk with Eggman, never looking directly at him still only looking for a quick exit.

"It's okay, he kept me company." A robot came with two steaks and a red wine.

"Lean beef for two." You muttered a thank you and couldn't help yourself from diving in. It had been a day since you had last eaten an actual meal.

"So, I called you here today because I want to discuss my... proposition to you." He cut some meat and dipped it in the red wine. "I want to take over the world as you know," Eggman was talking with his mouth full and continuously smacked his lips as he talked. "And I see thay you are a valuable asset. One I would like on my team. If you stopped holding back I believe you can defeat anyone who came in your way. Only with proper training of course offered by me."

Shadow backed into a darker part of the room hoping Eggman would reveal his true intentions if he wasn't there.

"And what would you be doing while you ruled the world?" Eggman let out his evil laugh.

"Enslave the entire population of course. AND with you by my side, you can have total power as well." Shadow noticed you were not entirely listening, instead looking at him trying to read him.

"And what about current colleagues of yours?"

"Shadow? He will remain at my side, if anything working along side you more." Eggman was making a mess of himself.

"And what if he had... betrayed you?" You may have felt like a wild animal while eating, but Shadow had thought you were elegant eating and talking your way through this dinner. You knew all you had to do was keep him talking to guarantee your safety.

"I'd simply have to terminate him." Shadow stopped paying attention to you and to the insane doctor. You looked as if you had been shot when he said that, did Eggman not understand Shadow was only 7 feet away from him? Convered in, ironically, shadows?

"Terminate?"

"Yes. He believes he is the ultimate life form but there is a way to eliminate him if needed... Let's say there was an extreme measure to be had when dealing with lab expirements with..." Eggman rattled his brain for the right words. "No morals or values? No understanding of life and death."

Shadow couldn't believe what he was hearing, he felt something inside him break and he left the two alone. He looked at you one last time and in your eyes that bore into his soul he saw heartbreak. He saw that you viewed him as a monster, something he was trying not to be. Trying to comply to your wishes while you sat in isolation.

"Any sentient being can gain those feelings." You were genuine when speaking of him. You didn't know anything about him, but lab expirement or not he was flesh and blood. He had a brain and obviously had feelings of his own, he left as soon as Eggman began speaking bad of him.

"Not him. He was designed to destroy." Eggman finished his dinner and took both your plates. "I'll have Shadow escort you to your room, SHADOW. Escort dear," He turned to you. "I don't think I got your name?"

"(Y/n)."

"Please escort dear (Y/n) back to their room." Shadow came back this time without the journal and took your arm quickly taking you out of the dining hall.
