Unexpected (Shadow x Mobian!Reader)

In the pod Shadow watched as your friends took off, leaving the ship to fall into the open water. Eggman had his own escape plan and was bound to return again, and Shadow would land somewhere in the woods hopefully close to civilization. He hadn't exactly placed a target spot to land before he left. What he also hadn't planned was what he would do once he got down there. Originally he was going to help you find your friends hideout and leave you alone.

But now he was alone.

The pod crashed into the forest making Shadow bounce around bruising himself and scraping his arms and legs on any exposed metal. He crawled out of the pod and surveyed his surroundings. Just trees. This was going to be a hell of a walk.

You on the other hand, you were sitting on the left wing of the plane. Sonic sat beside you and put a hand on your shoulder.

"How you doin?" Your ears perked to him.

"Oh I'm okay," You barely spoke, lost in thought and zoning out. Sonic reached his hand across your shoulders, gripping both and turned you towards him. Shaking you slightly to get your full attention.

"Hello! Mobius to (Y/n), obviously something is on your mind." Sonic dragged hello and only let you go once you giggled a bit.

"Fine fine." You sighed, Sonic was staring at you full intent of listening. "I can't help but wonder where Shadow had landed. Back on the ship he was trying to help me he even planned an escape and he left alone." You heard Sonic sigh. You looked over at him, he seemed to be thinking about what to say next. Which you could understand, he was an enemy, a rival and you were expressing concern for him.

"You know. I get that you are concerned for him, he is a very.... uh. Complicated. Guy." Sonic was gritting his teeth when he said that. "But he isn't a good guy. In the end he probably was going to take you prisoner and take you somewhere else." In your mind you had hoped that he was going to take you back home with you leading. But Sonic was most likely right. Shadow had other intentions and its best you're back with your friends than with him.

"Yeah you're probably right." Your ears dropped. Sonic pulled you close and rubbed your arm in a side hug. In the trees you could see your home start to emerge, a sense of relief washed over you.  Sonic was always super kind to you and listened even if it was the most absurd thought he gave you his genuine opinion on it. The plane started jolting a bit as you all reached the ground, before landing Sonic and Knuckles jumped off with a tumble and you stayed on the wing waiting for the safe landing. Amy and Tails grumbled something along the lines of "those idiots" and "they're going to get seriously injured." and you couldn't help but chuckle at them. You landed and you jumped off, Amy ran up and hugged you.

"I'm glad you're okay." She kissed your cheek in a friendly manner and went into the base. You all had homes but there was a base you shared where you would group up and have a plan of attack. It used to be Tails and Sonic's house but Tails had gotten tired of cleaning up after everyone and how Sonic would instigate Knuckles to break a table or a lamp. So you all found a big enough place to operate instead, and possibly gain more members. You waited for the fox to turn the plane off and come out, you wanted to tell him about the Chaos Emeralds Eggman had. 

"You can go ahead and go inside I'll be a while, I think the plane has some engine issues still from last mission." Tails tried to wave you off, you just walked closer to the plane and leaned on the body instead to talk to him. He opened a side panel of the plane to see the damage. Black smoke was slowly seeping out of it.

"Actually, I wanted to let you know Eggman has at least four emeralds. Shadow has one with him too. He keeps it in his quills." Tails' ears perked, he stopped messing with the engine.
