Lizzie POV
Joel looked into my eyes, the stars reflecting in his.
"What if we ran away?" He proposed to me, twirling me in his arms. We were dancing on the roof of the Mezalian Matral Palace, just pretending like we weren't at war. "We could be free. Just you and me."
"That sounds perfect." I cooed. He looked thrilled. "But, I can't. My mother is sick. I can't leave her, not so soon after Grian." His face fell.
"Alright." He conceded. "I'm happy enough with a few nights with you-for now. One day, we will be together, and nothing can stop us." He assured me. "I promise."
"I promise that one day, we shall be together." I swore. I meant it. Every word.
I wonder if your watching me Joel. . . I'm not going to break our promise. I meant what I said. We would be together. Nothings going to stop me. Not even death.
Joel was found dead a few days ago. He was stabbed by a trident. My fathers trident. My own father killed the love of my life. Watch, he's going to be sad. Too bad for him, this is his fault. The note I left told him that very clearly.
I looked down at the ground far below. I climbed to one of the cliffs of the overgrown, and watched the sunset. It was beautiful. Tears welled up in my eyes, then trickled out onto my cold, blue skin. The last thing I'll see before my loves face. I miss him, with all my heart.
I looked up, and dropped down. I love you Joel.
