Glynda and Robin sat down next to Qrow in the Amity arena, waiting for the fight to begin. Wild thrilling music played as Oobleck's voice played over the speakers.

"Welcome everyone, from every corner of Remnant, to the Amity arena here in Vale!"

The crowd roared with impatience.

"For people who are here for the first time, the Vytal tournament is a part of the Vytal festival, a festival to celebrate peace between all of our kingdoms. The tournament starts off with teams from different academies battling it out for their kingdom, then duos facing off, and finally the singles matches, which determines our winner of the tournament. Who's ready to start?"

The crowd went crazy again as holographic screens appeared and 8 people walked into the arena.

"This year, our teams are team JSPR (Jasper) of Beacon academy, fighting for Vale, and team DMND (diamond) of Atlas academy, fighting for Atlas. On team JSPR, we have Jack Goodwitch, son of the famous Vale huntress Glynda Goodwitch, Sapphire Miller, Penelope Taylor, and Reed Jones. On team Diamond-"

James tuned out Oobleck and scanned the crowd for Glynda, who he didn't expect to see. She usually spent the Vytal tournament reading in her office. Despite the fact she won every Vytal tournament when she was a child, Glynda Goodwitch hated the tournament. She didn't think a tournament was the best way to celebrate peace, but her son was in it this year, so she forced herself to be there. James found her a few rows ahead of him, but decided to wait until after the tournament to say anything.

"Begin!"

Oobleck screamed, the arena was spilt into two, one half was a jungle and the other was a run down abandoned city. Jack ran into the jungle, Sapphire by his side. Penelope and Reed stayed to battle as two DMND teammates ran to the forest.

James tuned the battle out, which was unusual for him. He loved watching battles his students were in, but he was staring at the back of Glynda's head, she was exactly three rows ahead. He was wondering what to say to her, he wanted to meet his son, but he didn't want to upset her more then he already had. He slapped himself mentally as he stood up and walked over to her, sitting in an empty seat next to her which was for Jack when his battle was over. Glynda didn't even look at him, keeping her eyes on the battle in front of her.

"That seat is for my son, Ironwood."

She said coldly, James frowned.

"Our son, you mean?"

She shook her head and finally turned to glare at him.

"My son. He stopped being your son the moment you abandoned us."

"It's not like that Glynda! I-"

"Look, I get it. You were always a mommy's boy, and your mom didn't like me after I got pregnant. So you stopped liking me too. I've had a lot of time to think about what you did James, and I've decided I'm over it. I was 21. Guess what? I'm 38 now, that was the past. Everything we had is over. Don't talk to me about Jack, or you know what? Don't talk to me at all, ever again. He isn't your son anymore. Ok?"

James stayed silent and wiped a single tear away.

"At least let me meet him.. I never got to meet my-"

"My son. Not your son."

"Right.. your son"

He sighed and looked down at his feet, he felt more comfortable looking at his loafers then Glynda's piercing pissed glare.

"If I let you talk to him will you leave us alone?"

She asked, James swung his head back up to see Glynda again, but she wasn't looking at him anymore. She had let her hair down and was hiding her head by looking down so her face was behind her long blonde hair, her glasses in her hand. James knew this is what Glynda did when she was crying. He rubbed her back slowly, she flinched and pushed him away.

"Don't touch me!"

She yelled, a few people looked at them, Glynda hid her face again in embarrassment as Robin walked up to James.

"Robin, don't-"

"I got this mom!"

She said, putting her hands on her hips and glaring at James.

"Look mister, your lucky I let you talk to my mom anyway. But you've crossed the line now! She been dealing with a lot since you abandoned her! Ok? You don't deserve to even look at her and yet here you stand. Please leave General, go back to the seat you paid for. Because my brother paid for this one."

Robin said, James tried his best not to look hurt as he smiled weakly.

"You must be Robin, Glynda and Qrow's kid right? It's nice to meet you, I'm Jacks d-"

"Sperm donater."

Robin chuckled at James.

"That's what mom calls you. Jack's sperm donater. Now I suggest you leave her alone."

Robin said, placing her hand on a dust revolver on her belt, Glynda sat her down.

"James, just-"

"And team JSPR wins!"

Oobleck demanded loudly over the speakers, Glynda's face light up with a mix of sadness and pride. Her son had won, but she missed it over a conversation she had been dreading for 17 years.
