"Never used an Unforgivable Curse before, have you, boy? You need to mean them Potter!"

Serena stared at him suspiciously. If he was a friend of Hall's, then there was something wrong with his offer. She was sure of that. Hailey, too, looked at him thunderstruck. "You don't have to do this," Nate quickly interjected.

"Really?", Hailey finally brought out, completely ignoring Nate's statement. She looked to Serena for help, but she merely shrugged her shoulders, overwhelmed. Well, Timothy Barnes was probably not one of the prettiest boys at Hogwarts. He was barely taller than Hailey and rather slight. His black hair lay in a pot cut around his large head and fell into his brown eyes. Scattered hairs sprouted from the lower part of his face, making him look a little unkempt. But if he was determined to help her, it would certainly produce the desired effect.

And that effect had best come soon, for at that moment Cormac McLaggen stepped over the threshold. Unlike Barnes, he was tall and fairly well built. He wouldn't even look bad with his dark blond hair and angular features, but something about his grin and cocky expression evoked her lunch again in Serena. She stared at him. She was pretty sure she had never met him in the library before. But apparently miracles did happen.

Her gaze followed him to three Ravenclaw girls standing at the far end between two of the high shelves, talking. She thought she heard Hailey's heart break at that moment.

Adrenaline seemed to flow abruptly through the Hufflepuff's veins, for she awoke from her stupor by pulling Barnes towards her by his tie and pressing her lips to his. It was quite a sight to get used to, as neither seemed to have much experience in kissing, so awkwardly they moved their mouths towards each other. But what did Serena know? She herself was still unkissed, which was unlikely to change anytime soon.

Still, her plan seemed to be working and having its desired effect. Now it was McLaggen who stopped moving and gaped over at them with a petrified expression. Serena grinned triumphantly and would have liked to stick her tongue out at him.

It seemed to take forever, but in reality it was probably mere seconds before Hailey finally broke away from the Ravenclaw again. Grinning inanely, she turned away after noticing the look on her Swarm's face. Barnes, meanwhile, turned bright red and looked helpfully at Nate, who looked back sourly. He was probably offended that they didn't need his help after all.

Just in time for the bell that heralded the start of class, Hailey pulled Serena out of the library and down the corridor to their classroom. The Gryffindor raised an eyebrow impatiently as she stumbled after her best friend and grinned meaningfully. "Well?"
