„And if I only could,
I'd make a deal with God."

Edmund Hall's Friday went rather slowly. The day began with a double lesson in History of Magic with Binns, who had literally died of his own boredom. Then it was straight on to Transfiguration, which was, as always, quite demanding, even if it was only about dyeing Blaise's hair blond. Which, in his opinion, looked rather bad on him.

After lunch, it was time for Potions. Edmund had nothing against Snape, even though he, like the rest of his family, thought he was a bit of an imbecile. Since Snape apparently found him similarly unpleasant as the Gryffindors during his lessons, the feeling was probably mutual.

"You okay?" asked Blaise as Edmund tossed his bag carelessly into the dark hallway outside the classroom, where several Gryffindors were already waiting.

"Tired," he grumbled, almost automatically running a hand through his hair to make sure it was still in place. Excited fourth years from Slytherin and Gryffindor streamed towards them at the sound of the gong, blocking the passage into the classroom for the time being, which made Edmund groan. Especially as this gave Daphne Greengrass the opportunity to besiege him. "Hey, Eddi!"

"Hello Daphne," he sighed, trying in vain to push past her, but firstly she was blocking his way and secondly the group of students still hadn't moved from the spot. What was that all about? Had their interest in potions grown so much overnight that they didn't want to leave the room? Normally, just about everyone could hardly wait to finally get out of Snape's reach.

"You'll never guess what Snape did!" she laughed, tossing her blonde long hair over her shoulders. "Pansy just told me. He's been..."

But Edmund was already not listening to her at all, instead, full of impatience, he let his gaze roam over his classmates, looking for the best way to get to his seat as quickly as possible. At first glance, that seemed simply impossible, because for some reason a crowd had formed around someone right there, reaching all the way to the door. And this someone was sitting in his seat.

Edmund now pushed rudely past Daphne and made his way through the crowd, using his elbow to push the gawping students out of the way. A girl, her long dark curls hanging over her face like a curtain, sat slumped in her chair, apparently asleep. No one had probably ever dared to do this before her in Snape's class. That was probably why she was the centre of the fourth graders' attention.

The girl looked suspiciously like....

"Mister Hall, take Miss Black to the hospital wing," Snape barked at him at that moment, ignoring the Gryffindors who were talking angrily at him. "You are dismissed."
