What an Unexpected Night

My eyes are all blurry. I see a blinding white light shining right in my face, then a few seconds later a shit ton of wires connecting to one place. Me. Shit. What the hell happened.

I groaned and sat up, "Jesus Christ someone turn off the damn lights."

I heard a gasp in the distance, then footsteps running closer to me, "Vani! Oh my god you're okay!"

As soon as I saw who the footsteps belonged to, my heart almost leaped out of my ribcage. There he was running towards me with such a concerned, worried, caring expression on his face. Oh my god. Terrell. OH MY GOD TERRELL. Am I like dead right now? I am so confused what the hell happened?

"Yea I'm okay why wouldn't I be?" I rolled my eyes. He shouldn't know how happy I felt to see him.

"Vani, Vani you got hit by a car."

"What the FUCK."

"Yea you did, I- I saw you on the road right after it happened. I thought you were some random lady until I saw your face."

"Oh my god, you like saved my life didn't you."

"I did what any decent human would have."

I knew he was lying. My memories came back shortly. I wasn't just lying there after being hit. I would have died if I just got hit like that. He pushed me out of the way, I know he did. I felt someone shove me to the side of the road right before I hit my head, and I new it was Terrell. It felt like him. And he was the only one there. Terrell fucking saved my life. Wow. I've only seen it in movies but wow. He did it for real. Why does he have to give me a new reason to fall in love with him all over again? No- I can't let myself do that again.

I was staring at a random spot on the ground silently when I felt a warm hand cup my face. He ran his fingers gently across the huge bandage I had on my head, careful not to hurt it. I shuddered, not in pain, but by feeling the warmth of his presence, his touch. He draped his arm around me, pulling me softly into a hug. I gave into his arms and melted with them. I shut my eyes closed, "Terrell?"

"Hm?"

"Thank you." I paused and took a deep breath in, "I'm sorry I acted like an asshole those few weeks. You didn't deserve it."

"Believe me Vani, I did deserve it. You weren't being an asshole, you were doing what any sensible woman would have," his voice got quieter, close to a mumble, "you're in love with someone else anyway."

I took his words in while still attached to him. Oddly, I didn't want to let go at all. Our moment was interrupted by the nurse, "Alright Mr. and Mrs. Ramirez! You guys are ready to go home now!" A nerve in my forehead jumped, Mrs. Ramirez?

I smiled at the nurse and waited for her to leave, "Terrell. Mrs. Ramirez?"

"Oh that, uh well I had to tell them we were married so they'd see my desperation to help you as soon as possible. That's all." I could see the nervous smile peering out of the corner of his mouth. This man. I pinched his torso, that's all I could reach.

"You bastard." He jumped away laughing. I reached out my hands, opening and closing them like a baby asking for food. He came closer to me and I yanked on his sweatshirt to pull him down to my level. I grabbed his ear aggressively and gave him a little kiss on the cheek. If black guys could blush, he's turning tomato red right now.

He let out a little giggle, "You crazy. You haven't changed a bit."

I raised a single eyebrow, "Hmm is that a bad thing?"

"You know it's not a bad thing Vani, " he had the hugest goofy grin on his face. Jeez Terrell. How can a full grown man look this adorable while GIGGLING? I remembered he had the funniest, cutest laugh.
