"Please don't burn the chocolate!" Joe said to Ben across from the kitchen as he grabbed a container of strawberries from the fridge
Ben and Joe had been dating for a year now but they hadn't changed from the moment they started dating. It's like they stayed in the honeymoon phase forever
"I can't promise anything" Ben answered sitting the chocolate in the bowl over the stove
Joe placed the strawberries on the counter beside the stove, before wrapping his hands around his boyfriends waist and placing his head on Ben's shoulder
"You alright?" Ben asked turning his head slightly to show he was talking to Joe while still stirring the chocolate in the bowl
"Yup, I just like the way you smell" Joe admitted. It was weirdly one of Joe's favourite things about Ben, he almost smelt soft and sweet
Ben smiled at Joe's little comment. Also one of Joe's favourite things, the way he'd try and hide his smile to show the compliment didn't effect him that much was adorable to Joe as Ben would scrunch up his nose and pout his lips a little
"Do you think it melted enough?" Ben questioned not wanting to mess up anything as Joe was so excited for this night
"Yup" Joe answered simply, slightly tightening his grip on Ben's waist causing small butterflies to appear in Ben's stomach but he ignored them because he always got them around Joe
Ben turned off the stove and moved the pot over the counter near the strawberries, while Joe followed his movements behind him. Joe finally let go of Ben's as he went to eat a strawberry
"No! We are putting the chocolate on them first, then you can eat them!" Joe grabbed the strawberry before he could bite into it
Ben lightly pouted his lip jokingly while frowning causing Joe to tell him to stop while laughing a little. That was Ben's favourite sound, Joe's little laugh. It was the kind of laugh you wish you could listen to on repeat like your favourite song
Ben and Joe stopped playing around and covered some of the strawberries in milk chocolate with a few having some sprinkles because Ben begged Joe to put some on
The second half were covered in white chocolate but when Joe leant over to grab a strawberry he caught a glimpse of Ben just being himself while speaking to himself trying not to get hot chocolate on his fingers. It was such a small moment that would be meaningless to other people but this was the eye opening moment for Joe
He already knew he loved Ben, he had said it to him before and he frequently told him that, meaning it more each and every time. But at this moment Joe realised Ben was the one
The one he wanted to share his best moments with, his worst moments. The one he wanted to include in his little youtube videos. The one he wanted to fall asleep next to every single night. The one he wanted to hold when things were bad. The one he wanted to make his favourite memories with. The one he wanted to be with forever
"Are you gonna help then?" Ben jokingly said with a smile plastered on his face. Joe was too speechless to answer verbally, so he just nodded with a similar smile on his face
Joe Mazzello loved Ben Hardy more than anyone else in this world
