"Morning." A tight-lipped smile formed on my face.

She took one look at me and went back to shuffling the papers that were on her desk. You could tell she wasn't in the best of moods.

I cleared my throat, "I'm Bellamy Grayson." she continued. Maybe she didn't hear me.

Before I could say another word I watched in the corner of my eye as Katherine made her way toward Mrs. Butler's desk. She must have seen that I was struggling to get our teacher's attention because she placed one perfectly manicured hand on Mrs. Butler's desk and the teacher stopped what she was doing and looked up at us with narrowed eyes.

Katherine smiled, "Mrs. Butler this is Bellamy, he's new." Mrs. Butler's gaze shifted from Katherine to me.

"Ahhh, I see." She went over to what I presumed was her storage room without another word.

"Don't let her freak you out, she's all bark and zero bite." Katherine giggled, twisting a few strands of fiery red hair around her finger, "How's your first day going? I'm assuming good since you've made it this far."

I shrugged, "I mean I guess so, I've had a little bit of help but other than that it's been good."

She cocked her head, "Who's been helping you?"

"Uhm, just a guy I met this morning." I have no idea why I didn't just say Luca I'm almost positive she must him, "He helped me with a few of my stuff and showed me to my dorm, then got me to my first class."

Judging from the look on her face she was trying hard to figure out who I was talking about. Before she could ask though Mrs. Butler made her way back with two books in one hand.

"Here you go, Bellamy." She practically shoved the textbooks into my stomach, "You'll be needing these, one is for homework and the other is for learning. If you need any help you can feel free to ask Katherine, she is our top student after all."

Katherine's smile grew, beauty and brains as they say.

"Mr. Carter early as ever." Mrs. Butler said as I turned around to see Luca walk through the door, a grateful sigh left my mouth the moment I saw him.

"Sorry, I got held up," Luca said, his gaze shifting from Mrs. Butler to me.

Without hesitation he walked over to where I stood, a smile tugging at the edges of his lips, "I'm surprised you made it here before I did."

Katherine scoffed from behind me, "No way." she tugged at my arm causing me to turn around, "Luca Carter is the guy who's been showing you around?" she narrowed her eyes, "Wrong move, he's-"

"What?" Luca interrupted her before she could finish.

"Bad news." Her voice dropped two octaves.

I furrowed my brows, looking at Katherine and then back at Luca while they seemed to have forgotten I was even here. All they did was stare at each other the way you would stare at someone who wanted the last slice of pizza you called dibs on.

Before I knew it I was being dragged to an open seat right next to Katherine, and in the same breath, I looked back and watched as Luca scoffed heading over to his seat in the back of the classroom which is where I hoped I could have sat as well. Taking in a deep breath I looked over at Katherine who began to take her textbooks out of her bag.

"What was that about?" I asked, quietly.

Katherine looked over at me with caring eyes, "You're new here so I don't expect you to know who you should look out for."

That was vague. Why would I have to look out for anyone, this isn't the Mafia. I liked Luca and the last thing I want to do was keep my distance from someone who's been nothing but kind to me.
