*Flashback - 2 Years Before the Incident*

"What's going on?" Waverly asked, looking up at her mom with a confused expression.

"Don't worry about it, sweetie." She said, attempting to make her tone sound reassuring.

They stood in the center of there field surrounded by a swarm of their pack-mates.

Two wolves stood in the middle of everyone.

A young werewolf, about Waverly's age, maybe a few years older and a male werewolf with a light grey streak in his hair. He looked exceptionally old.

"This!" The elder wolf announced, standing beside them with his head held high.

He was one of the oldest wolves in the pack. There had been rumors that he alone could shape-shift half-human to wolf.

Like the ones you see scurrying through the trees late at night.

Waverly made eye contact with the young werewolf.

He looked terrified.

"This man is a traitor to our kind." The elder continued, receiving a gasp from the wolves around him.

Waverly watched curiously as the young werewolf was dragged away from his father, kicking and screaming.

She felt a burning pit of anger begin to build in the depths of her abdomen.

A faint growl vibrated the cords within her esophagus.

She raced after the wolves who dragged him away.

They weren't too far ahead of her.

Once Waverly caught up she immediately sprang into action, slashing her claws across the taller wolves legs, sending him spiraling backwards.

"What the hell?" The second wolf shouted, spinning around.

He spotted Waverly about to attack and grabbed her by the wrist.

The young werewolf watched in awe as she kicked her legs out, jabbing her knee into the second man's stomach.

He let go of her and veered off to the side.

"Come on!" Waverly yelled, shoving the young werewolf towards the forest.

They sprinted into the trees.

"That was so cool!" He exclaimed excitedly.

It was the first time she'd seen him smile.

Once they were far enough away to keep hidden from them, Waverly tossed her arms around the young wolf.

"Is that your dad?"

He nodded. "They're gonna hurt him.."

She rubbed the back of her neck, trying to come up with something positive to say.

"What's your name?" She said, changing the subject.

"Will.. short for William."

Her eyes flashed blue, happy to have a new friend.

She wasn't too fond of there other pups in the village.

They were always so violent and she just wanted to play.

"Waverly." She muttered, introducing herself. "Why did they take your dad?"

He looked down at the ground.
