*Flashback - Long Before The Incident*

Waverly was lying on the small patched couch positioned in the corner of her parent's hut.

The older werewolves were on patrol, securing the valley and searching for a stable food source.

The deer of Seabrook were becoming hard to come by in the forest.

"Waverly."

The pup looked up, locking eyes with Wren.

He was also a pup, about a year and a half older than her.

Dark blonde hair, fair skin and beautiful green eyes.

He was quite attractive, but this never did him much justice since it was masked by his reckless personality.

"Come with me." The werewolf said excitedly. "I found something."

She frowned slightly.

Waverly didn't know Wren very well, their parents had worked together a few times on babysitting duty since his hut was right beside theirs, but no more than that.

"What is it?" She questioned, standing up cautiously.

Pups weren't allowed to leave their homes because of the recent disease spreading trough the valley, killing thousands.

It only affected animals of course, and because of their wolf side, werewolves also fell prey to this virus.

They had already lost seven.

"I can't explain, you have to see for yourself." The boy said, gesturing towards the door.

"I'm not sure that's a good idea," Waverly began. "The plague-"

"Don't be such a scaredy cat." Wren went on, mocking her. "We'll only be gone for a second, no one will even know."

After being convinced by Wren, Waverly followed the werewolf to the far side of the valley.

She had traveled there once before when her mother brought her in search of blueberries.

"Over here!" Wren shouted, leaning over a bush.

It was covered in small red berries.

Waverly hurried over, eager to get back to her hut where it was safe.

The werewolves eyes landed on a rock, it was glowing bright purple.

"What is that?" Waverly asked, her eyebrow furrowed.

"A rock." Wren joked, reaching for it.

"Wait!" She warned, grabbing him by the wrist.

He slapped her hand away. "For what?"

Waverly stared down at the crystal.

She felt drawn to it.

"Don't touch it." She warned, sensing it's dark energy.

"Why not?" Wren asked, laughing nervously.

The werewolf looked up at him, confused why he wasn't able to feel the heaviness in the air around them. "You don't feel that?"

He shook his head.

"Stop trying to scare me." Wren said, scoffing.

Waverly stepped back. "But-"

Before she could finish, the werewolf shoved her out of the way and snatched the rock.
