(The next day, almost dismissal for school) Sonic's POV: Same boring morning, I watched television while waiting for Shadow to come back from school. We had agreed to check on my parents today. Tails had already told me that my parents were gonna be okay and that they should be awake right now. I miss my parents so much I wanna see them right now!! I thought. I sighed as I looked at my foot. Four more days of torture!! Running was my favorite thing to do, going a week without it is unbearable to think about.
I pushed my despondent thoughts away as Shadow appeared. "Shadow!!" I opened my arms wanting a hug. He stood there silently and then hugged me. Shadow's body heat was so warm and I loved stuffing my face into Shadow's chest fur whenever I got the chance to. "Shadow! Let's go to my parents right now!!"
Shadow nodded and teleported us to the hospital. He carried me to my parents room as I shouted "Mom!! Dad!!" Shadow had put me down on a chair. My parents looked so worried. "Oh, Sonic sweetheart we missed you so much! What happened to your leg?" My mom cried out. "Well..I was trying to save you and..uhh fell in a trap..gahh! It's a long story. Im okay now though!! My boyfriend saved me!" I just realized what I had said. Oh shit!! I called Shadow my boyfriend..I looked over at Shadow. He seemed shocked, but what surprised me the most was that Shadow started smiling. His smile..it's beautiful. He looked so handsome I thought I was gonna faint. His face was always emotionless, or mad. I could never picture a smile on his cold face. But now, seeing his warm smile, it makes my heart beat faster than the speed of light.
I looked back at my parents, my dad had raised his eyebrow at me. "You have a boyfriend?"
I nervously stuttered. "I-I..uh mhm..im gay."
My dad smiled kindly, "Sonic, i'm not ashamed that you're attracted to males, I was just mad that you haven't told me—" Mom nudged dads arm. "—Us that you found a lover."
I sighed in relief. "Haha well uh.. I just started dating him today. Thanks for being supportive, Dad and Mom!!" My parents pulled me in for a group hug. I gestured Shadow to join. My parents smiled welcoming at Shadow which made him join in the hug. I cried tears of joy. Today's the best day ever, my parents are safe and supportive, and Shadow is my boyfriend now. "Mom, Dad, I also forgot to tell you that it was Shadow who saved you guys." My dad looked proud "This young fella saved us?" I nodded. "We'll treasure him in our family!" gushed my Mom. My parents kept making Shadow blush, it was funny.
Shadow's POV: Sonic's parents were making my body burn, in a good way. They kept flattering me, spoiling me with compliments. All I could do was blush, nod, and thank. What was mostly on my mind at that moment is that I smiled. I haven't smiled in over fifty years, how did Sonic manage to do it? Sonic must be my boyfriend now, I don't mind it at all. He's all I ever wanted. He's mine now. I smiled stupidly, I was so happy I couldn't even describe myself.
Sonic and his family had invited me over for dinner. We talked a lot, and when Sonic and I were alone in his room, we confirmed that we were dating. I kissed Sonic a lot. I smiled too, which I was hesitant to do before because the only person I smiled to was Maria.
I broke off a kiss from Sonic and looked into his emerald eyes. "I love you so much."
"I love you too Shadow." He smiled. "But- there's one question you've never answered."
"Yeah?" I replied.
"I asked you, 'Why do you hate me?' I know you love me now, I trust that a lot. But i'm curious, why did you hate me before?" Sonic questioned.
"I'll answer that." I grabbed his hand. "The reason why I-" I got cut off. "SONICC SHADOWWW!! TIME TO EAT DINNER!!" It was Sonic's Mother. I sighed, "I'll tell you after, okay babe?"
"Aw okay! Wish we didn't have to eat dinner right now.." Sonic whined.
I chuckled as we walked downstairs.
I never hated you. I was jealous.
