Chapter 8: Ghost hunting (2)

They all planned to meet up in Ayato’s room to wait for the knocking to start the ghost-hunting, all four of them, Kazuha, Thoma and Ayato.

Thoma had received several calls from Ayato while he was showering, he quickly wrapped his head with a towel and said, “You are so annoying.”

He crossed the corridor and entered Ayato’s room. “What do you want?” Thoma walked in and saw Ayato lying on his bed.

“Stay here and accompany me, kinda lonely right now,” he heard Ayato say.

Gorou was the third person to arrive, he came with long sleeves and long pants and he is also holding a flashlight with him just in case the ghost is too powerful and knocks out all the lights.

“What makes you think the flashlight won’t get affected?” Thoma wanted to say that but in the end, he didn’t say anything.

It was still early so they decided to play games.

Kazuha finally came, he entered at around 11pm.

They played for a little more until it was 12.30am. Gorou took the lead and went out slowly, he turned around and saw Ayato not moving at all.

“Ayato, what are you doing? Let’s go,” He said.

Thoma turned around too and smirked, “Gege, I’m scared, protect me,” he said mockingly.

Ayato’s throat tightened and then suddenly, they heard knocking.

Gorou paused and chuckled nervously, “Maybe we heard that wrongly.”

They heard another knock, it sounded far away. Kazuha tapped on Gorou’s shoulder, “Tonight it’s not on the third floor, it’s right below us.”

Thoma turned around to see how Ayato was doing. He was so scared that his hands were trembling but he wanted to save face so he tried to act as calm as possible.

Thoma sure liked to watch this, Ayato noticed him staring and thought that he was afraid. He then gently held onto Thoma’s hand and tried to make himself sound calm, “Don’t worry, big bro will protect you.”

Thoma was a little stunned.

The group quietly walked down the stairs, Gorou’s grip tightened on the railing as he was halfway down, “Fuck, there is really a ghost.”

“Where?” Kazuha tries to see what’s in front but Gorou is blocking the view.

At the end of the corridor, some vaguely human shape was moving towards them, Ayato saw it too and was almost scared to death.

Thoma sighed, he was about to say, “It’s just someone under some blanket moving around.”

But then, Gorou turned around and panicked, “Now what?”

“You didn’t think of this scenario?” Ayato was panicking too.

“Should we go up to it and say hello?” Thoma said blankly, the two of them looked at him eyes wide.

Gorou turned his direction back to the stairs and said, “I think we should just go back and…” sleep.

Kazuha suddenly ran out and grabbed onto a fire extinguisher, he jumped onto the figure and released the foam.

Thoma’s mouth agape, Ayato and Gorou went speechless.

“What is going on?”

“School dorm lives are fun huh?”

The next morning, Itto came into Class 2.5 and saw they were all rearranging their desks for the monthly exams. He squinted his eyes to look for Ayato and found him at the last row. “I heard Dean Xu’s shouting last night, what happened?”
